So I have had my HD 800s and ran them against Utopia for a week now. Crazy saying this, but I really think the 800 S technically and in terms of enjoyment takes the cake. Extremely surprised by this, and not sure what to do with my Utopias now. May trade them.

Just put my order in for the 800s. Coming from Arya v2 which I loved but they gave me headaches and jaw pain no matter what I tried.

I'm excited to hear these. I started off trying to get better gaming headphones with the pc 38x which turned into 560s, Meze 99 classics, Hifiman Ananda, Hifiman Edition XS, Hifiman Arya v2 and now HD 800s.

I also bought 58x for my piano cuz I got them for so cheap, those arrive tomorrow. Sennheiser is in again boys!

If everything goes well I'll be venturing into tubes soon

For me it was the comfort and the way the music was presented that took the cake. I actually found the Utopia to be maybe technically superior, but it just didn't make me want to keep listening unlike the 800S.

Ah, good to hear. The internal DAC in the WA8 is pretty good, but I suspect the pairing with your Max will be *much* better!

Yeah not gonna be using the internal DAC. Like you suspected, the plan is to use the 3Max Ultimate mode with WA8 amp on the go hehe~

Anyone here using Peace APO and equalizer for their 800s that could help? I used the Oratory 1990 settings to set up a profile but the graph is showing this dip in the mids and treble. That can't be right can it?
