Not sure what you mean by "can't sound clean"? This particular vintage system was near top of the line back in 1979 and the sound is extraordinary.
As long as you enjoy its all good.

I just got an old friend back. I've missed its snappy dynamics and unique sound space. Welcome back HD800S, time for some burn-in with my other new toy the HMS

Guys I love the HD800S but I do wish it had more body, warmth and low end fullness. I have it connected to my he9 + terminator. I wanted to try to use my speaker amp since I have it here (Pass x350.8). Has anyone done this? Did you just get an XLR to speaker tap adapter?

Its either that or try a warm tube amp I think.

Right now got an atticus and hd800S but want something more balanced between them.

Have you tried oratory1990 EQ settings ? Sets it to the harmon target and you can make it as warm as you like.

The HD800 will probably sound better with the X350.8. Though be careful to have the volume at the lowest setting when using it & perferable use a preamp with low gain or none at all.

https://headphonelounge.com/ can also make you an adapter within a few days, just email them.

How do you wash the earpads without damaging them?

With distilled water + dishwashing detergent? Or just let it soak?

Using roon dsp mode
Okay. I have been trying to avoid Roon like the plague, but this feature could make it worth it for me. I took a quick look and it looks like it will be pretty straight forward to implement once Roon is set up properly. My guess is that will be the hardest part.

How do you go about doing this? I am interested in trying this out myself.

Download equalizer APO with peace UI. Punch in those oratory1990 Harmon target EQ settings and adjust to taste if needed.

I have never tried to EQ my HD800s before, can anyone point me to a guide that says how to EQ them? I am looking to see if I can glean more out of my phones.
