I also don't find them that comfortable. They're very light but the pads seem to sit on the top of my ears and the headband doesn't carry the weight very well. Just too many headshapes (Go Dan Ackroyd!) for one design to work for everybody.

OTOH I feel comfortable in LCDs and a lot of people can't wear them at all.

I found that the headband needed slightly straightened in the middle before my set would give me a tight seal. That and leather pads are perfect for me.

Well warming my new amp up nicely and really enjoying the hd800s alot more than I did with the headline amp.
So much better in all departments and it's nice to hear at last what the hd800s can do.
Running balanced direct from my rossini, the fantastic details, depth and just huge sound is just jaw dropping, as you can probably tell loving the new partnership

What kind of pads did you decide on?

I checked with them. It is/was a showroom model. They were not sure how much use it got, but are treating it as new. Not so sure about all that.

It would have to be at that price point, below dealer cost.

If you look through their closeouts they are all high end demos (maybe returns). Maybe it's an annual thing, maybe it's a sign of lowered expectations given the state of the world.

True. They were saying that they are getting out of the headphone business.

I love this headphone, wondering why it took me so long to pick one up. It's my current go-to, usually with a tube amp, though the V280 is also an amazing pairing. I compared it to some other headphones in the same price range here:
