My violectric amp has a XLR plug. If I use a adapter to convert the800s stock 4.4 cable to th XLR type. Will this degrade the sound compared to just buying the XLR cable?
Or does anyone have one they are not using for sale as they use to come stock.
Is a balanced cable a must with the quality 280 solid state violectric amp?

In order to utilise the full potential of the V280 you must use the balanced out.
From the single ended output is like using a single V200 amp.
From the balanced out all the four internal amps are running in full differential mode.
A 4.4 to xlr adapter of good quality i guess that it is OK.

I just emailed Sennheiser. They want 350 for the xlr that use to come with the purchase. Don’t think I will buy it. But I’m not a big fan of adapters. Too many links in the loop for me.

You can reterminal to a plug you want, easy and least cost.

I just went full xlr with $1500 .5 meter Kimber select (that I was previously using with my bryston amp) from the benchmark dac to the thx amp to the xlr cable for the S, and I can't tell a difference between that and se. I have xlr connections for all my cans and I'm good with either method of connection, but I definitely do not favor one over the other.

I'm really enjoying the HD 800S + iFi Micro iDSD Black Label combination! The sound is non-fatiguing and smooth across all frequencies.
I listened to the Elder Scrolls: Skyrim OST last night and I had to close my eyes and let it all sink in.

Does anyone use the HD 800S at their work as a semi-portable?

Mine are simply indoor-system cans.....my go-to portables are the wonderful sounding PowerBeats Pro!!! Never thought I would be enjoy true wireless IEM's like I do my PBP's! They are more comfortable than my CIEMS!!!!

I have an original unused mint HD800S balanced XLR cable. If anyone wants to swap for the 4.4mm balanced version, send me a PM.

Bought the 800S the other day. Absolutely love them. They sound amazing with my Questyle CMA 400i. Anyone tried this combo?

Just wish it came with the XLR cable instead of 4.4mm.
My headphone store is going to contact Sennheiser to see if they can send one as they used to have a voucher that allowed you to get one for free.
