I hope sennheiser releases a 610S, which has this same 700driver like the 660S does, but also features a FR above 1k, which looks more like the 600.
Yeah to me the 660s really has become a 650/6xx replacement since it sounds so relaxed, but also has the imaging and speed characteristics. Been realizing this slowly but surely.. But the 600 is irreplaceable. On the CMA Master it is god tier

A grey marble housed, electric sky blue badged, HD-610S with super sharp imaging and insane speed, which is not nearly as relaxed or dark as the 660S, but is brighter, more forward, more present, and it can be driven straight from a 3.5mm jack on a MacBookPro….
The HD-610S is coming, I can feel it.

Yeah I do wish the 660s was a bit more present in.the treble region. I think that's what turns some off initially on first listen. But the resolve of the treble is a step above the 6xx/650, and the imaging, soundstage and technical ability of the 660s/700 driver is just plain better than that in the 650. Once you get acclimated to the lower treble energy it's just a better headphone IMO.Yeah to me the 660s really has become a 650/6xx replacement since it sounds so relaxed, but also has the imaging and speed characteristics. Ireland vs Romania, I believe, Romania being the filled in logo. In addition you will note that the three dots indicating the left ear up have been moved from the side to the front, the L and R have been moved from the outside to the inside (and enlarged) and the yoke has been squared off a bit. I don’t believe any of these things indicate an inferior product. If you are nevertheless concerned about Romania production, there is what looks like a used Ireland pair for $200 on USAudiomart.com right now.

Actually, some Ireland's had the filled in logo too.

OMG thank u for the last photo, it clearly shows that the ring outside ( those 2 parts ) have different colour the one is darker than the other.Actually, some Ireland's had the filled in logo too.
Both my 660s had that and when I post it all told me that the paint is the same colour , it got me crazy. Now I know I am not the only one

Imaging and speed was the first I notice on 660s compared to the others on the line .Yeah to me the 660s really has become a 650/6xx replacement since it sounds so relaxed, but also has the imaging and speed characteristics. In my opinion if it had more treble energy then it would lose all that smoothness we all love on 6 series. Yeah some people will like it but if anyone needs more energy then there are other good options for example Sundara .Yeah I do wish the 660s was a bit more present in.the treble region. To me Sennheiser must never change that character on HD6 line .
I can see the point of having 560s or maybe a better driver with Angled frame some treble energy and big soundstage and call it HD760s .
I would buy that headphone for having something really different, light ,last forever and cost half of what HD8 line does.
Sennheiser if u see that ... Just do it

Well I had a chance to sell my 660's today, but I passed as he wanted free shipping. These headphones have really brought out the "nickle and dimers".
I cancelled the ad tonight and am going to put them back in the rotation. I don't think I'll ever be a huge Sennheiser fan, but I am going to try harder to see if they can carve out a niche in the collection. I am SO tired of losing money on Sennheisers.

I welcome both the fast/crisp grey marble HD610S with more presence from 1.5khz-4khz, and a little more brightness and air than it’s darker sibling the 660S.In my opinion if it had more treble energy then it would lose all that smoothness we all love on 6 series. I also welcome the silver alloy HD760S in an entirely new housing which utilizes the same 700 driver of the 660S & coming 610S, but with bigger wider cups, bigger soundstage, and a slick new housing/gimbal design….. aka what the HD700 could have been.

What is it you don't like about the 660's?

Like all Sennheisers, I find them flat and boring. I guess audiophiles would call it neutral and transparent. What is it you don't like about the 660's?
I like warmish amps and fun headphones. I kept the HD660's around as a type of palate cleanser. After about a year I just decided to move them on. But I guess not right now.

You can get a bit more detail out of them if you remove the 'disc' pads.

Food for thought. You can get a bit more detail out of them if you remove the 'disc' pads.
