Thanks for this, David - best laugh I’ve had all day! Also completely true!
I mean he lives on Hawaii, likes some booze and has some nice ex, current and future ladies around all day. He really needs no boutique cables.

Just ordered the HD660S £349 including next next day delivery. (Listed on the Sennheiser UK website for £429) They are replacing AKG K812 headphones. Eventually i will run the HD660S balanced (Gungnir Multibit and Mjolnir 2 ). Oidio sound will be supplying me with a balanced cable for the HD660S .... I believe its silver plated copper.....

Tried the 660S. Hated it vs the HD600. It's a sad attempt to capture the magic.
The HD600 is the only member of the HD6 headphones that I didn't like, and also sold off, just goes to show that we all hear differently. For me the HD600 has a small peak in the 4.5-5khz range that bothered me at times, brighter headphones with peaks just a touch higher don't seem to bother me. What I like best about the HD660S is that it sounds really good on almost anything that I tried them on, similar to the HD58X, but with less grain in the treble and cleaner tighter bass.

Thats a good price only £50 more than HD650 I paid £390 and worth every penny.

I have Noir Hybrid fot my HD800s and i will soon post impressions at the HD800s thread
and publish a review for avclub.gr.
Long story short - major upgrade from the stock cable.
Stock cable is grainy , hazy , metallic sounding and noisy.
Obvious differences regarding detail , body , dynamics , blackness , naturallity of timbre.
But this is the wrong thread for discussing HD800s cables.
As always imho.

The headphones have arrived....running in and in the meanwhile am awaiting delivery of my Oidion Mongrel cable (its balanced 4 pin xlr with xlr to 6.3mm jack adaptor) which is due in about 10 days. It will be interesting to see how the sound evolves over the next 200 hours. They are very comfortable and quite light. Given the amount of time i spend listening to tunes (roughly 10 hours a day) i will post my thoughts on the overall sound in about 3 weeks. All i can say for now is that they are a completely different sound signature to the AKG K812 and will take some getting used to. Will sell the K812s to cover the cost of the HD660S in due course.

Dont put them in a box and play music, put them on your head and enjoy, the sound will become smoother over time but this is because of the pads breaking in and not the driver.

I have HD660s. Today I bought used HD600 (2017 edition). Listened them with hd660s earpads. So, in Poets of the Fall – Carnival of rust in chorus I can't distinctly hear (If I didn't know there are back vocals I would be very surprised) back vocals as I can do it with HD660s, I am disappointed by lack of details at this point, but for me overall tonal balance is better than hd660s while I listen to multi-instrumental tracks like God Is An Astronaut. I am using fiio e18 and focusrite 2i4 first gen. I know it's not enough to power HD600 efficiently, but with 3/10 loudness on fiio and about 9 o'clock on focusrite is enough for me to listen to music as usual, I am using foobar with maxed out all volume settings. I don't think there will be more details if I'll power HD600 with more mW than I do it with e18. My hearing range is about from 20 Hz to 15kHz. Excuse me for grammar.

Is it normal for 660S to have such high clamping power? My ears hurt already and I've just had 660S for about 3 hours.
Is it normal to don't hear audible difference in sound level in single-ended output vs balanced (with FiiO K3, no gain on)?
