Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

It's a shame you sold the HD600.
They're very different even when compared to the HD660s.
The HD600's present music a lot more clearly than the HD660s after being accustomed to the upper mid peak, they're a headphone that makes all music float. The treble peaks in the right spots too in comparison to the HD660s that pulls back the majority of treble.
The HD660's are technically superior than the HD600, except for bass performance in which I perceive them to extend a tiny bit more than the HD660. They also retract the upper mid spike which helps with separating busy vocal tracks. Although when paired with a clean source like a JDS Atom, the HD660 I feel are better daily drivers, I use them for gaming first and music on the side.
I feel personally referenced in this post. With an Element 3 having both is indeed spectacular as they are definitely different. I feel the 660S is faster and more fun but lacking the fine resolution of the 600. They bring different things to the table and it's worth having both.

The problem with buying an HE-1 is that there's literally nowhere to go from there. Once you have the absolute best, everything else suddenly becomes garbage by comparison. It would literally ruin me.
The real problem is that after buying the HE-1 you realize they are not that much better to ordinary mid-tier headphones like the HD600 for instance. And you just spent 60K for admittedly genuine but very minuscule improvement. You are not in awe, you were not floored, your jaw did not drop, you did not gain any additional insight into music. You just had a slight sonic improvement and paid through the nose for it. Yes, I have heard the HE-1.

This is the issue w all of the hi end headphones imo. The one that floored me and I felt was worth it totally was HE500. I have no comprehension of why Hifiman would discontinue it. Legendary cans.

Wanted to drop in real fast and give my initial impressions so far...these are incredible. I had been looking for an upgraded HD600 and I think these are them. Will circle back once I've given them some time.
Thanks! I love mine as well and they keep getting better and better the more I listen to them.
