How does everyone feel about the timbre of the hd660? Do you find it as natural as the hd600 and 650?

I'm a musician and this nails it in spades! I enjoy this with jazz. If there's a very very small critique, it's more leaning towards the energy of cymbal attack than the shimmer (decay) in the lower treble region. Aside that, The Miles Smiles album is a rediscovered joy when listening with the hd660s, same with Hendrix's Band of Gypsies album.

I think I should correct what I said before. The fenestrated bring it more in line with the Amiron Home in signature, but in all honesty, comparing both side by side I can't say the Amiron is better. The HD660s is more relaxed sounding and doesn't suffer sibiliance (try 'Close To Me' by the Cure on each and you'll hear what I mean). They're their own thing and both great depending on the song that matches their strengths.

This is my 2nd pair of HD660s, the first pair sounded lacklustre in everything but vocals. They just weren't detailed, I sold them earlier this year. This 2nd pair are more detailed. I noticed this 2nd older pair were made in Ireland, the 1st pair weren't. Has anyone else experienced this difference in the 660s?

I had two pairs as well. The Ireland were smoother with a touch more bass. The Romania pair were brighter.

To me timbre on all of them is fantastic compared to other headphones more expensive or not. Between those 3 i find 660s in the middle 650 is the smoothest 600 is the most in my face and between those 2 are the 660s. But honestly its like searching for fleas in the barn.

Someone I worked with used to play 'chase the snake in the barn' as a kid. I suggested reporting it to social services.

I have a few questions about the 660s.
1. does it have the 3 blob sound stage like the 600 and 650?
2. Is the soundstage wider then the 650/6XX?
3. How does the treble compare to the 650/6XX?

I really can't decide if I want to buy the 660S or 6XX. I don't care about the cost difference if the 660S it that much better.
It's not really a case of one being better than the other. They're different. The 650 offers a more relaxed tone than the 660. The 660 probably works with a larger number of genres as it's a bit more all round use. Personally I prefer the 660, but I know there'll be lots of advocates for the 650.

1 & 2 Yes. But people tend to find it is a little bit wider than 600/650.

3. It's a bit different. You're really going to have to try them to see if you would like it better.

Yes...like them both as well but for different tasks.

I use the 650 on shuffle and the 660S or the Clear or the Amiron Home when I'm actively listening (choosing songs).
