Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

In this video about restoring an HE-60 they put on 660S grills. I wonder how they got them. Taking them off an actual 660S seems like a very expensive way to go about it.

if you send to Sennheiser a mail , saying that u accidentally brake your grills I guess they will send u … The thing is that does the cost worth it ?

Submitted a ticket this weekend, hoping to hear back early in the week. I've heard many good things about their warranty process.

As mentioned here, I had to send in my newly purchased 660's because the left ear cup was shorting out intermittently. I requested that they replace them with the exact Article/Model (508826) as opposed to the revised one.

Do you guys think they'll be able to do that? I'm worried about availability at this point. I specifically purchased from the vendor I did because they had the old box/mold. I hated that there was an issue with mine but I wanted to get them in for service/and or/ replacement asap.

Sennheiser mail to me says Exactly that … the NEW FL model is 508826 (EAN 4044155249569)

The OLD models are 508231 (EAN 4044155236804)

The NEW FL model arrived September 2019 to Official Sennheiser dealers . And they also send me some pdf files with specs .

I misspoke, sorry. 508231 is my model and the one I want to receive back. I'm hoping they still have that one to replace my defective pair.

All this myth about HD600 and HD 650 stop manufacturing and make a new HD660s with BIG letters The legend continues I think it was a Market trick . They know from the start it will be 3 HD 6 series headphones HD 600 , 650,660 with all of them Facelifted .

I actually don’t think this is true. I think that the HD660S was a genuine attempt by Sennheiser to improve upon the HD650. Indeed, I think they successfully addressed a number of the criticisms that had always plagued the HD650 - too warm, too slow and laid back, too much upper mid bass etc making the HD660S in many ways similar to what people who were modding the HD650 we’re aiming at. Somewhat ironically it was the HD650 modding crowd who were some of the least enthusiastic about the HD660S. The problem was that in achieving many good things with the HD660S they unfortunately sacrificed the detailed smoothness of presentation as well as some of the naturalness of timbre of the HD650 - the very things that made them legendary in the first place.

Fortunately, Sennheiser listened to the feedback and changed their mind about discontinuing the HD650. Additionally, I don’t think they could possibly have been planning the revised versions back when the HD660S came out.

My opinion Why Sennheiser gives HD6XX and some Hybrids HD58X to Massdrop is this …. Quality Control , The best parts are for Sennheiser and others to Massdrop … thats what I saw side by side and that makes perfect sense . And If I guess correct they will also give all the old stock (none facelift) to Massdrop also . At my Country HD650 cost 288 euros, and 369 the HD660S so I dont see the point for Europe market, Unless if they have 200 euros on Europe to …
They definitely seem to put subpar pads in Drop batches...

Dont know , maybe they think like that... Thankfully they have all the series now 600, 650 and 660s for most people to choose what they like , if they have the price on all of them at 300 euro would be also great . Same price .

Personally I use HD650 and 660S more than everything yesterday I listen a some Tiesto albums and HD650 felt better than 660S and 2 days ago I listen the calum scott album and felt better on 660S …
Some times I feel that this never ends and its not only about headphone but type of music to .
By the way doesnt the HD600 feel closer to HD660s even if the graph doesnt look the same ? I am not saying that these are the same but 600 to 660 are closer to me than 650 to 660 … does anyone else feel that?

I dont think its possible from Official dealer to Get the old ones . Only if a shop have them somewhere stock .
Why u want to old ones and not the New model ?

A couple of reasons I guess. I like the packaging of the old model. I like the rounded edges because I was used to those, having owned the 660 S for the last year before selling mine. I guess that's the reason.

Do they include the old presentation box that was included in the past with 6xx with the new version of 660s or this is gone as well?

Strange! The new style HD660S I had came in the new outer sleeve, but the box inside was the same as the old one from Romania which was the same as the original one from Ireland. Exactly the same in fact.

@rafaelo (and others)

Don't be mistaken.

The HD660S come with hard presentation box.
The HD600 (new style) come with a cardboard box like the 58x.

Ok guys I need help here. I am keeping regretting and unregretting ... Back and forth...:)

I love the hard presentation box when I received first time my 6xx I said whow by looking this box. Only this box worth the 30$ premium in comparison with the price of 4xx back then when I bought them both.

I convinced even my wife with this box who was angry with me for buying so many headphones.
