Is it worth waiting till Cybermonday to try getting one of these for ~$400?

By the way has anyone really compared the K550's with the 650s? I really liked the 558's they had in Best Buy but the muddy detailing ruined it for me.

Best Buy plays them without proper amp.  The HD558's are pretty amazing for the price.  Haven't heard the K550s but they have some pretty incredible reviews... especially for their current price point (~250?).  Depends on the sound you're looking for... the HD 650 is all about smooth and dark... mmmm a very "sexy lady in dark jazz lounge with black dress" feel to the sound signature.  AKG's K550 will prob be more of a bright sound... if detailing is what you want... the K701 are prob what you want.  Been told those will rip apart any music you have into tiny pieces.

Are the 598 and all the mid-fi and higher end headphones only in the Best Buys with the "Magnolia" section?

Mine just updated their headphone section, but just added more crappy headphones. Now they even have a headphone "fashion" section. A whole section for a brand I never heard of. They also added 4 more Monster headphones.

I wish I had a Best Buy with the A900x, HD-800 and HD-650 in my area! I bet not even Detroit's BB has the HD-800 for demo.

Right now i'm trying to decide between the A900X, HE-400 or HD-650. I've always wanted to try the DT-48e too. Leaning towards the HD-650 now that I upgraded my DAC. My last version had fairly bloated bass.

Maybe Sennheiser will let some Authorized retailers sell the HD-650 below MAP for black friday. Doubt it.

yeah just the best buys with Magnolia centers carry higher end headphones.  my local best buys have the 'ear jewlery' section like you said, but they also have (arguably) better headphones in the musical instruments section like HD380's etc.

I have never considered the HD650's to have a dark sound...Full and accurate, great sound stage....

being out of topic here, if there's a static noise with my HD650, is that normal? it usually there when i play the music, reduce the volume to zero then there's the static, if i pause the music the static stop then gradually come back. i suspect it must be something to do with my PC giving static voltage. is that ok or i need to fix it somehow?

You should not hear static with your 650's. Do you have another source other than your PC to try an isolate to static?

Highly probable it is not the 650's, but something from your computer. Do you have an iPod or some other source you can plug into and make sure it is not the headphones?

yeah its definitely not from my headphone, tried it. its coming from my asus D2X soundcard. if i keep it plugged in to the sound card, will it break my headphone? thats my better DAC as from now before i move in to buy others
