I beg to differ sir ! When we’re talking about the HD650, at $75, it would be the deal of … the ‘century’.And what kind of shape are they in for $75. That could be the deal of the day.

Pads were worn out but not quite flat yet, and I noticed the right side has a bit of a crack at the hinge, but functionally they're 100%.
I think my upstream gear has changed since I had the 6XX so maybe there's some of that. But I just found them to veiled and sleepy. These out of a Mimby 1.2 and DarkVoice sound quite sharp (granted the pads are pretty close to my ear, I'll have to put my 600 pads on it once I get the ZMF pads for those to compare).

To be fair they cost me $77 since she only had $3 to break my $80 haha. I took it and couldn't stop grinning. She was originally asking $250.

Trying to switch low/hi gain on my Magni 3+ with 6XX and can't catch any difference. What exactly should I feel?

I got my HD650 in the mail yesterday, and I was really enjoying the sound. It blew anything I'd ever listened to out of the water. Very pleasant, very comfortable.

I use high gain on my Magni 3+ with my 6XX's and that sounds fine to me. Low gain doesn't have enough power.Trying to switch low/hi gain on my Magni 3+ with 6XX and can't catch any difference. What exactly should I feel?

What is power? Volume on low gain is 1-2PM, volume on high gain is 9-10AM.

I don't have the Magni 3+, but amplification for hard to drive gear like the HD650/6xx is not a matter of volume. Driving to adequate volume is not the same as driving something well. With such high impedance gear, you get a weaker soundstage, bland dynamics and a smeared bloated bass when it is underpowered.

It doesn't push my headphones with enough authority on low gain. As your figures show.

Well, I understand the theory. But can tell the difference.

I keep the gain on high with my Vali 2++ because it sounds better.

I use low gain on my magni 3+ with my 6XX, it's enough volume for me with still good headroom. Low gain will typically will have lower distortion numbers, so if the volume is loud enough for you I'd stick with low gain.Well, I understand the theory. But can tell the difference.

I also use DIY OTL amp. It means I don't mind distortions.

Sure. Use whatever gain you like. In the end it doesn't really matter.I also use DIY OTL amp. It means I don't mind distortions.
