If you’ve got money invested in your system as I do stay clear of the 660’s they don’t scale at all with decent gear. I believe this to be a limitation of the 150 ohm driver. I don’t think they’d even scale with a mediocre bottle head crack. I also found they don’t resolve low level details as well as the 600 or the 650. These were a big let down imo

Hmmm...I'm scratching my head since I see Yggy in your sig, and I've found my 600 and 650 to come alive & scale WAY up with Yggy's staggering micro-detail, texture, & touch. Thought it would be similar.

Wasn't looking to get another HD6-- series anyway, just interesting comments. :nerd:

yes the 600 & 650’s scale. As I said the 660’s don’t scale at all. Totally different drivers

I think he was referring to HD660 as not scaling.

It has lower impedance. That said, I think the HD660s doesn’t quite live up to its heritage especially considering its $400 price tag

Yes they are, it’s just cool to bash HD660 apparently.

If you don’t want to spend over $1,000 on an amplifier to make the HD650 wake up then HD660 are really good for metal and EDM on budget gear.

You definitely don't need to spend $1000 to wake the 650/6xx up at all. $350 for a thx 789 will do just fine.
