I heard the Darkvoice really smokes the competition...

Hmmm interesting so is easy to say that the Darkvoice also provides aromatherapy? Heheh good to know this, I guess I'll stick with the schiit valahalla 2. The only thing that caught my interest was the price and the amount of tubes to roll compared to the valhalla.

Dark voice amps were recommended endgame setups about 10 years ago weren't they? I remember them being talked about all the time for pairing up with the hd650 and dt880 a few years before the hd800 was announced.

The vahalla2 is really good w/ the 650's. the tubes that come with it are pretty good also. You should be fine with that to start.

My Glenn otl arrived this evening. Been a few months since I've heard a tube amp. Nothing like it.

Which tubes does it take? Looks like some GEC 6080's? One of my favourite tubes with the 650's. Beautiful mid range presentation, nicely refined.
Yes Gec 6080 power tubes, Cv378 fat bottle rectifier, Mullard ecc31 w/ adaptor for 6sn7 driver. I received about 20 extra tubes vc1187 acquired when he was tube rolling. Don't know how much longer my hd800's are going to be around.

Oh wow, nice. The ZD takes 6SL7's, and I have yet to hear the famed Mullard ECC35. I am sure the ECC31 absolutely stuns with the 650's. Not sure which other power tubes you have... I enjoyed the Tung Sol 5998's, and also the Tung Sol 7236 tubes for power. Both gel very nicely with the 650's. Never had a chance to hear the famed GEC 6AS7G either... too expensive.

Finally home from work myself and listening to Sufjan Stevens on vinyl through the ZD... gotta love the tubes! Also, I am now fully in the analog rabbit hole... I'll be replacing the Pro-Ject table with a VPI this weekend.

Yeah the ZDS may be my next one. Build time & avialibility plays a big part in the decision making with the custom amps.
