what have you done???????

now it's gonna be a "not veiled"/" get shiiittt or crack, drugs are good for you"/"is the hd800 better?"/"cat's&dogs topic".
you can't storm in with such a revolutionary action and just add one possible subject in our 1500pages routine of saying the same stuff over and over again. that's too much change, I wasn't prepared!!!!

LMAO - yeppers beyond cats and dogs and the possible translations of those (?) and the whole off-topic thing:

- puppies are cute
- haven't tried Schiit - but I've tried a few things
- S.E.X. is good. Crack is good. S.E.X. and Crack is heaven
- Nina Hagen is weird and leads to Crack - if not S.E.X. <- seriously get nunsexmonkrock
- tube-rolling is almost (almost!) as fun as the above
- 650's rock. 650's plus crack plus Bitburger plus Nina Hagen = puff more Crack
- puppies are cute

Did I mention 650's? :)

Well, I will soon find out. BestBuy has them on sale (matching the lowest price I've ever seen them on-line), so I bought a pair.

Let's see... Scotch in glass... check; Julia Fischer - Sarasate in Audirvana+ ... check; daughter and cats asleep... check; tubes warming up... check; HD-700s plugged in... check;

Let the flavor-of-the-moment euphoria begin

Enjoy, I think you'll probably really appreciate them. Like I said, great headphones for many reasons but just didn't present the sort of music I listen to the way I like it best (perhaps I should get better taste in music!) I only wish I had the sort of cash to be able to keep them all.

I have a Schiit Magni2 + Modi 2 uber combo at my office and it feeds the 650 enough IMO
But at home I am using Matrix M-Stage hpa-1 and it seems that it's not enough.

I am thinking of a Schiit Asgard2. But what would you suggest instead of hpa-1? Price will be around 250 usd.

The Asgard is working very well with the 650. I can vouch for the Asgard (1) and the 2 is nicely improved.

If you want something mobile, I can recommend the Cayin C5 - amazing synergy with the 650.

Cheers,

Asgard 2 is a great pairing for the hd650. Ample power and I never need to drive it over 10-11o'clock. Plus the 2 comes with a muting relay so you can keep it plugged in the whole time.

See if you can find a used Project Ember, I found this a great pairing with the HD-650, I was looking at the Bottlehead Crack/SEX but still to chicken to try and build so got the Ember (new and built $360, included shipping) if you can build it (kit is $275).  I also have Modi/Magni, Lyr2, Asgard2, Teac AH-01 and Teac UD-301 and the HD-650 is best on the Ember.

The closest I've come is Bryston BP20 pre-amp driving HD600. A fantastic pairing. The huge voltage swing the Bryston can deliver really brings the dynamic capabilities of the 600 to life, and also gives sub-bass a lot more oomph. People who say the 600 can't deliver sub-bass haven't heard this pairing. Don't know how similar the circuitry is in the standalone bryston headphone amp. My next exercise will be to use the bryston to drive them in balanced mode.

I just bought the BHA-1.  It should get here in the next couple weeks.

I already invested in the cables so my plan is to drive the 650's in balanced mode.

Thanks for your impressions with the 600's.

Strong my Teutonic side was that day :) Great memories of Nina Hagen on a hissy old Walkman cassette replaced by glorious FLAC and the 650's. The BitBurger helped :)
