I've been using the Sennheiser Headphone Holder as well, and as already mentioned, it is simple, cheap and unobtrusive. Works great with all my headphones, even the heavier LCD-2.

I also highly recommend Sennheiser HH 10 Headphone Holder if you ever need something discreet. Cheap and works great with HD600s.

I can get one locally for "only" $34.95 + $15.95 shipping (!).

I picked mine up from Amazon for $23.45/free shipping, now just need to save for the next several years for an HD800 to hang on a second one :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:! On another note, can you buy these cans at a discount in Germany? May have to find a reason to visit the Munchen Office.

I just use one of those binder paper clip things as a hook for my 650's hahah :)

I'm afraid I need to really dig into this; I use Audirvana+ (Mac) w/ the Voxengo EQ - but I really don't know what I am doing and so it's very hit or miss.

I was listening to Agnes Obel's Aventine today w/ HD 650s and the piano notes were painful; on my 2-channel system this album is heaven for me.  I feel like with some knowledgable EQ'ing I could get to nirvana with the 650s.  So, I need to invest the time and learn.

I checked out this album today and I'm blown away by her voice. Absolutely amazing. I don't find the piano painful to listen to but I've only listened to a few songs.

edit: yup definitely painful

Just downloaded a WEB-DL @ 24/44, it does indeed sound amazing on HD650!! Piano's not painful at all.
The album is recorded a bit hot, though, I had to turn down the volume. But it's beautiful!

I just heard the HD598's today and they blew me away. Although my W3's were near their SQ, I think the HD598's were just a little better and I enjoyed them greatly.

Think the HD650 is worth the $300 extra?

I believe that you can get the hd650 for $400 (or less) shipped from razordogdeals. Is the price premium worth it over the 598, for me heck yeah no question.

Not all of the songs have painful piano passages, but there are some notes that really hit hard. This screen cap was taken at a point that was very irritating. It's worse playing through my Mackie MR5MK2's

Well, looking at the DR analysis, it's not that surprising... The peaks are very close to 0.0dB and overall DR9 is pretty bad for an acoustic album.

Still sounds pretty good!

They're down to $443 at Amazon (or $439 from Stereo Advantage seller) now. They seem to be constantly floating in $419-499 range there.
So I suggest finding a good deal first. I got mine for $419 from Stereo Advantage last weekend.

I paid $499 a few weeks back from Crutchfield, but I got a $50 rebate coming in the mail, I had $20 rewards, and I got a free genuine Sennheiser balanced cable.  I think I did ok.
