Money-wise I could easily afford the 650's at the moment, but I'm afraid my fiance will kill me. I've been in the audio game only for less than a year, but already the itch to replace my 598's is too bad. Would my significant other notice if suddenly the color of my headphones would change from the creamy shades of 598 to the dark 650?

If she would be willing to metaphorically "kill" you over the 650s, then I think it's time you seriously consider breaking off the wedding.

I expect your fiancée spends way more on having her hair and nails done over the course of a year than a pair of HD650's cost.

But THEY consider such things as ESSENTIALS, men's things are just toys - jeez I'm glad I'm out of that, when I hear it from the guys at work I can't help laughing.

I have not had the Vali and modi together. I have the uberfrost and the pairing is quite good. I was never a big fan of the modi tbh. Maybe someone who has them both can chime in.

Seriously, with my recent purchase of some HD650's, everything sounds a bit rubbish in comparison, I love them so much! I'd wear them everywhere if I could.
That being said, for gaming I'm still partial to my dumb-as-hell razer tiamats... there's something about that excessive bass that makes battlefield so fun!

That being said, the HD650's are the best gaming headphone I've ever used. (optical from PS4 > Recon3d (with THX OFF!) > Amp > HD650) I can hear every little detail going on, explosions seriously annihilate my ears.

If there's a set of headphones that I want to give me tinnitus, It's these.

What's this rumour I hear about the HD650's being carbon fiber?

I was listening to the HD650s last night on my "bright" sounding XcanV3 amplifier...for some some reason after more than half an hour the upper mids started to grate on my nerves...it started sounding too bright.

A "warm" amp will feed into the HD650s strengths and make them "open up".  Contradictory...but that's what happens to me.
