Some people are very strange . They will modify the crap out of their HP'S but a slight eq adjustment to correct a frequency to their liking is strictly out of the question.

Just for the record. I really like the 650. I just wish it was a little better in the details and imaging department. For the money it sure is hard to beat.

HD650/HD6XX is definitely blast for money, much prefer it to AKG 712 pro, Fidelio X2 (yikes the hollow mids.....), DT 1990 pro etc.
What i personally would consider as slight upgrade while retaining most of the similar characteristics would be Hifiman HE-500 with correct pads but they are discontinued long ago, hard to find and weight a ton.
I haven't noticed any type of compression applied when using them. I have done a lot of a/b testing. Maybe it's not obvious. Regardless I don't use an extreme amount of eq.
But, I do notice my HP'S sound more to my liking. I have a 31 band analog. It's not top of the line, but I do find the digital eq to be a tad more clean and versatile especially with multiple HP's.
I'm not here to question anyone's opinions. I'm just here to learn how to improve my listening enjoyment. Thanks for your input. Maybe I should do some more testing with transients and dynamic range in mind.

I have a 31 band Behringer FBQ3102. I know it's not a TOTL, but it does sound pretty good and has gotten good reviews. Maybe I'll put it back and do some more damn testing. Thanks for making me have second thoughts about my setup.
Lol you'd think measurements would be the most important thing to sound if you went strictly by reviews. To be fair some people might notice those changes, I don't.
I mean technically is tube rolling not basically an EQ? Never seen anyone claim tube rolling is bad.
