Peeps, over in Europe we're unfortunately running out of the last stock earpads :\ Was told along the lines of foam production being reliant on oil is in far from a good place right now. Sennheiser and Thomann are the usual shops for me but also others that I approached are exhausted. For the time being I'm looking for quality replacements a la eBay and AliExpress that are sonically hard to distinguish from the original Senn pads. Dekoni, Yaxi, ZMF pads and the likes are not of interest.

Recommendations?

The new ZMF Suede pads are supposed to be sonically identical while lasting a lot longer than the original pads. You should probably reconsider them given how dependent the 6XX/650 is on its pads for its sound.

The originals wear down after around 18 months.

The ZMF Suede pads are an excellent alternative to stock. It's not exactly identical sound, but to my ears the ZMF pads give a more dynamic punch and clean up the bass a bit, while still retaining vocal warmth and intimacy. The angled pads also help increase the soundstage a little.

Yeah, very aware of the influence of earpads. That's why I'm so set on getting originals, or if not an option as close as can be at who knows a way better price. FWIW, had the chance to get a close look and listen to ZMF's perforated lambskins and the material is impressive. They should be at 2.5 times the price to pay for import, which kind of makes buying new a bridge too far. It's duly noted. Might try a second hand pair at some point. For now I think I'll just get a bunch of cheap Ali pads and start some comparisons.

I just bought a 650 and am using it with a Bifrost 2 + Asgard 3. I'm really disappointed in the lackluster bass. I heard through others that it was supposed to be good, but I don't find that to be the case. The sound is otherwise great, but I may as well listen to a couple of bookshelf speakers across the room with no subwoofer.

Of the Schiit h/p/a that I have used, the best match with the HD600 / HD6XX is Valhalla 2. The next best match is Lyr 3. First is all-tube OTL; second is SS/tube hybrid.
