  Newb question: How's the stock cable? I was considering ordering a Norne Audio cable (to match my other two headphones). Does the HD650 benefit from a silver cable due to it's alleged darker signature? How're the aesthetics?

 
The stock HD650 cable is just fine. And I came from HD600 with Cardas.

I wanted a shorter cable, got one in an auction $30, silver plated OFC in clear teflon, it, as tight twisted pair, shows in it's shininess from the alloy Y to the phones, from the Y to the (3.5 screws into 6.5) plug it has shiny black braid covering. Makes me happy .

I think someone should take notice and start making cheaper aftermarket cables. They would fly like hot pies... (and still make a ton of profit).
I'm personally not ready to pay 300$ for aesthetics alone. Something under 100$ maybe.

I like my Milian Acoustics Cable, fairly priced, well made and sounds great.

I priced out a Norne cable that goes for ~$140 (Skoll Series, HD650) without a ton of options (1/4", no splitter). I have one for my HE500 and it is the best cable I've ever had easily. Far from a side step.

No it can't be side step. If one prefer 650 over 800 it's more on tonality than overall capability of the headphone.
