Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread

I'm in the UK where the 700s still sell for 1k. How long had sennheiser usa been selling them for 650 Bucks? Anyone reckin if sennheiser feel their rep is back on track the price will go back to 1k?

I've decided to pop for a pair of ocharaku kuro iems now but really love the 700s

Damn, the cheapest I've seen here in Finland is 599€.

Yes, I agree that the modern pop music's recording is not refine, and due to the unforgivingly revealing nature of HD700, it makes a unpleasant listening experience. But it is what it is, I am not saying HD700 is bad for ALL pop music, it is just not good a lot of it. For example, if you had to listen to TOP40s with HD700, you will find HD700 will sound terrible for half of it.

Again, since I mostly listen to classical, I LOVE MY HD700 :p

Also, anyone know a software that can manipulate the EQ frequency? Since I am away from home for a few months, all I have is the HD700 for over-the-ear and when I feel like listening to pop music it dreads me... ><

Did you test hd800 on those pop music and has same problem?

The prob I find with the hd800 is the soundstage is too wide. Now maybe im more an iem and narrow soundstage guy, but I find the added intimacy, weight of the bass and detailed presentation of the
hd700 (esp for 650 bucks! as now on ttvj and moonaudio) is just brill.

I have not given up on the hd800 yet though! It just doesnt work well with my SPL Auditor amp compared
to the hd650s which work v well with it. I plan to try out the 800s with a burson conductor amp this week.
Will also try the hd700s with it.

For now though im getting the iem equivalent of the hd700 ... the ocharaku KURO.

Checked HD800, also has the sibilance problem.

So the problem is sibilance, not the headphones.

Honestly, I've never had sibilance issues with the HD700/800.

If I'm being honest with myself, I experienced it very slightly on some tracks with my new pair, but didn't experience it on the well used demo pair. Kept notes as to which track those were and revisited it later. I don't hear it anymore.

Just a quick discovery I... discovered... over the weekend. The HD 700 has done the unthinkable in that is has made me appreciate my HD 600. I'm a big fan of quick and aggressive signatures. This is why I'm in love with my HD 700, but I found myself wanting some slight contrast on some tracks. Out came the HD 600 which hasn't been pulled out in some time, mostly because I didn't have a need for such a boring signature. In fact, the only reason I owned it is because the HD 600 is pretty much a base line and reference point for everyone in this community. Well, I was wrong. Wrong to the point that I'm even considering a purchase of the dark HD 650 to compliment the bright HD 700.

Congrats HD 700! Not only have you made me love you, but you've made me repair my broken relationship with other cans.
