589 EUR in PL (according to today's exchange rate) :L3000:
It is a shame that in Hungary it is 654 Euro in HUF in sennheiser's original website for Hungary (according to today's exchange rate) . I do not know why I need to pay more since Hungary is part of the EU... All my neighbouring countries are for 600 euro . Here is the most expensive.

It was just added to Bay Bloor Radio’s website. Looks like the price is $799 CAD.

Given that this seems to be an upgrade over the 660S in both sound and price, why on Earth did Sennheiser choose to name it the 660S2? Aside from defying their normal naming conventions, it also looks kind of silly on the side of the headphone.

Why wasn’t this just called the HD 670?

We debate these things internally all the time. Ownership of the naming in a 75+ year old brand does not sit at one person's desk so there are always exceptions to the general rule.

I think 660S2 is appropriate because it shares the functional design language of the 660S while simultaneously replacing it in the marketplace, unlike 650 vs 600 which live in parallel. Anyone can justify any number of arguments for naming conventions and at the end of the day you have to make a decision start producing them. We're most proud of the sound and the lettering on the headband/box/website does not influence the acoustics in any way.

Great review Ichos . The question that most people ask me is... Can 660s with eq sound like s2 ; or are other capabilities of the driver that even with eq will not sound the shame ;
The new driver is technically better with lower distortion and is also better dampened.
So it can handle EQ and louder listening levels with ease.
Competitively the 660S is more "lo-fi" sounding.

Replacing it?
Is it going to be discontinued?

There is stock remaining at the dealer level in the product will continue to be supported with the two-year warranty from date of purchase, spare parts etc. Ultimately (in time) the original HD 660S is replaced by the HD 660S2. Those that prefer the 660S signature over the 660S2 signature should jump into the original without hesitation as it will be service and parts supported in the long term.

Soundnews (Sandu) review of HD660S2

I watched this and this is a total garbage useless review . I wonder why Sennheiser gave early HP to this reviewers .
No mention how they compare to Focal clear , Hifiman Arya , Sennheiser hd800s, Meze 109 pro . Since barely few people have the Ibasso this comparsion and review is pretty useless.
I'm from another camp...yes comparisons can be helpful but one should approach a new phone on its own merits. With new equipment I always find it best is to listen to music I'm familiar with so that I have a better understanding of its strengths and weaknesses, how I am drawn into the music, is it a satisfying presentation, do I long for more base, increased or decreased treble, sound stage, etc, etc. In the end I ask myself, without comparing it to other phones, can I live with this phone, does it work with my music and listening preferences and is it worth what I paid for, aesthetics, build quality, fit and feel.
Yes being familiar with the different types of technologies, planar, dynamic, open closed, etc, etc and manufacturerers is important but like I advised someone on another thread it's may be best when a new phone arrives to put away all the others for a week or more.
"how they compare to Focal clear , Hifiman Arya , Sennheiser hd800s, Meze 109 pro"
I seriously don't believe there is the ideal phone, at least not after more than 50 years in this hobby, but I know what I like. : )
