Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

If that is true then the fact they use the 560s drivers is playing a role after all.....
I cannot comment on the 560 driver one way or another, I did briefly have some Sennheiser HD 599 Special Edition last year, and if they are similar to the HD560, for their price point they sounded pretty good.
The problem with the Neumann IMHO, unlike Sennheiser's concerted continuing effort to try and improve on their 600 series over the last 20 years the NDH30 is more or less a hodgepodge of parts reworked from different models, it appears to work for some but for me it does not at all.
Where I find the HD630VB is a fun and capable headphone and musically satisfying I sort of assumed the opened back NDH30 would be quite an interesting endeavour, and from what I've been reading it should have been just that.
Sadly it is far from it and not too sure what to make of it, in comparison to the HD800S it is rather recessed and 2 dimensional and with the S2 rather uninspiring and a lame effort for musical engagement.
As a headphone to be used for long listening sessions or its intended use as a monitoring device for making decisions on a mix I can see it working quite well, but not as an end tool, go to, to sit back and be immersed in a musical performance.

I pick NDH30 over 800S and 650 (and S2 before I returned them twice - marginal improvements over 650 made them not worth keeping) most of the time for musical enjoyment (800S reserved for orchestral work). Too bad NDH30 didn‘t work for your preferences.

I have HD 560S. They were my first headphones when I came into this game. And to best answer whether I like them and how much, would be...I sometimes wanted them to be worse than they were because they sometimes sounded better than the more expensive headphones I purchased later. :)
I had the same experience with the HD598 years ago, they were so close to my HD700s. : (

If it's made in Germany, it's not the audiophile group bought by Sonova, right? My understanding is that Sonova moved all audiophile headphone production (including the HD-800S) to Ireland? Or do I have that wrong and things like the IE-900 are still made in Germany?
