Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

I just got my Schiit Magni today but I've had 598's for at least a year now.

I used to use an E7 for my amp, but now I just use it as a DAC.

Wow as soon as I listened to something with my new amplifier I noticed a dramatic difference in the SQ and soundstage of my 598's. The soundstage has improven dramatically, something I find surprising because I already thought the soundstage was pretty good. The sound quality has also improved as well.

By looking at the graph you can see that the Sony has more subbass and is probably more impactful since it's a closed can while the Senns have a more surround'ish bass with more midbass emphasis.

edit: nevermind while i was looking at the graphs the question has been answered already

Has anyone compared the RS160 line, HD428 line and PX-80 line with the HD 598, 600, 650, 800, etc?

I was chatting with some on the Grado thread and Grado's seem to have the same sound as you move up the chain, just more of it and better detail, bass and staging.

What is the signature, or not, of the various Sennheiser lines?

Thanks!

The newer headphones 598, 700, and 800 are apparently brighter and less veiled.  The older line 580, 600, 650 are apparently more veiled and darker.  Personally I can't confirm this, but this appears to be the general opinion of many people.  Hopefully I'll be able to find out sooner than later.

I think this is also the feeling I have on HD598 vs Philips X1.
