Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

I'm more and more tempted with getting a better amp for these. I currently use them with ibasso DX50 and really like the sound but if there's more to be heard, I'll gladly pay about 200$ for that pleasure :)

I'm not sure a better amp will get you better sound. These headphones are fairly easy to drive. The sound you get out of a decent/average amp/dac is probably the best you can get. I think the $200 would be better spent on better headphones.

I hear a lot more in the bass area with my Asgard 2 than I do with the DX50

I read a couple of times that the Asgaard is a good match for Sennheiser headphones - it certainly works well with my 598s and I'm very happy with the combination.  The Asgaard immediately added a bit more punch to the low end and a sweeter top end as well.  This amp enhanced the accurate, natural, liquid sounding signature of the 598 even more.

I've had this thing for over a week now and I'm still amazed at what it did for the bottom end to these phones. I can't wait till I get my HD 700 to see what this Asgard can really do >:D

Also, Rush - Test for Echo you can really enjoy the bass, and at times you can hear it resonate...hhnnnggg

Ok but if Fiio E10 is sufficient for 598, why are there someone use it with much more powerfull amplifier ?

Some people use it on more powerful amplifiers because headphones are a hobby and they own various or plan on using harder to drive headphones later on.

If you plan on trying out other expensive headphones and not just staying with the 598 it might be better to go with a more powerful amp.

Bigger better amp can have a lot better sound to it due to higher quality components, it's not just about power

not unless you find some aftermarket cups that are bigger than stock. Or rubber bands. Could put the headphones on your head then put a rubber band around it :p

If you do that, make sure to take pictures.

Sorry for a bad pun...

Take it from a ton of people in this thread, Asgards and Sennheisers are friends.

The Cayin C5 does a wonderful job with these and a very nice, clean and appropriate bass boost if you so wish.  I use it to run my HE560s too.  A formidable and cheap portable amp.
