598 has a pretty remarkably natural and fairly wide soundstage that sits slightly forward of your ears, due to the driver placement, which is at an angle, and of couse the open design. Treble is slightly rolled off though, so that makes soundstage a little smaller than some brighter cans, unless you use EQ boost.

I haven't heard the Philips model but this fellow indicates that while there is dip in treble at 2k (which tends to make vocals sound more distant), there is a good amount of sparkle up top, which usually translates to a wider soundstage. Good luck!

I like the soundstage of the hd580, not as wide as the hd800. I have not heard the Philips model you are referring to but you will find the hd580 to have a great soundstage given that it's an open back headphone.plus it's very comfortable and non-fatiguing, great for long listening sessions.

Can someone please help I am able to buy these used at the same price as new Philips shp9500.Which headphone will be better buy?I want more natural and large soundstage.

I have not heard the SHP9500.  Rtings.com has reviewed both the 598 and SHP9500, and they give a slightly higher score in the Soundstage category to the SHP9500.

Killer resource! I really appreciate the detail of their reviews.

Yeah, their reviews are quite comprehensive.  I think the scoring is still subjective though, but at least they provide the raw data to back up their scoring.  Next time I'm going to buy a headphone on Amazon, I'll have to remember to link to Amazon through their site, as they get paid through affiliation.  Least I can do for such good and free info.  Problem is remembering to do it.

A dedicated, external amp will definitely make a difference.  How much of a difference varies from equipment to equipment and person to person.
