Pretty much anything is going to make hip hop sound better than what you've got. 
Or maybe you listen to hip hop without bass and is all mids.

lol... I did the mod for the hd555 and it does sound better.  Bass isn't "boomy" but perfect to relax to.  I got my D200 for the fun sound..lol but I still do like the hd555s for relaxing.  I'm curious about the hd650's sound... since they seem to be warm and have fuller bass..drool... but idk I want to try those out.  =)

I also believe that the Sennheiser 650's are a good choice for an upgrade. Personally I feel that Sennheisers are quite comfortable and can be worn for long periods of time.
