Hey, so I've been lurking around here for awhile, finally decided to join up and post a thread since I have a question! Anyway, I just bought some new Sennheiser HD-555's and I instantly noticed a huge improvement of quality over my old Sennheiser HD-202, but my question is, should I be using an amp? I do occasionally use them on my iPod Touch but they're mostly for use on my PC.
 
Sorry if this is the wrong section, I wasn't sure if it'd be suited more for headphones or amplifiers.

555s are supposed to be efficient enough that you wouldn't need an amp.  Unless you've used an amp before while noticing a substantial improvement, then don't bother.  If the headphones sound quiet, then you should perhaps consider an amp or simply turn up your volume.

They work fine unamped, but still can benefit from one. Even a portable.
