Yeah, similarity looks pretty strong. I wonder if it's more refined

@Sennheiser any more info?

Hi all, again.

Don't be fooled by the serial number of the HD 400 Pro: Sennheiser's Pro headphones have separate serial numbers from the consumer ones, such as the 5xx and 6xx series; the HD-400 Pro is the current flagship of Sennheiser's Pro line (as an open headphone). It uses the latest driver from the HD-560S (an improved version?), and not the old driver from the HD-600; this is surely not a coincidence.

Then to say that the driver of the HD-400 Pro is superior to the one of the HD-600 (because not retained for the flagship of the open Pro headphones of Sennheiser), there is a step that I would not cross, but the doubt is there!

Otherwise, here is a raw google translation of the conclusions of the Russian review of the Sennheiser HD 400 Pro headphones (linked in my previous post), as well as a graph superimposing the very close, but not strictly identical, FR curves of the excellent HD 560 S (fat curve) with the no less excellent HD 400 Pro headphones (thin curve).

" Conclusions
Before we started testing the Sennheiser HD 400 PRO professional headphones, we had absolutely no expectations. We could get anything and blame it on a purely professional model, but we got a real gem from the entire range of headphones from the German manufacturer. This is an absolutely serious development that clearly embodies the very latest achievements in emitters. Without a doubt, the headphones will appeal to a very large audience of both professional users and audiophiles. If you've already heard the new bestseller HD 560S, then the HD 400 PRO model can be called a pumped-up professional version, with even more detailed sound and two interchangeable cables included. Sennheiser HD 400 PRO sets a new standard in professional headphones for detail and clarity of sound, which previously in this price range could only be dreamed of, and we really look forward to more such models in the future. One can note a very light better linearity of the medium of the HD 400 Pro, versus HD 560S. The timbre of the voices should be very well respected with these two headphones, as very well explained in the Russian review of the HD 400 Pro, mentioned above.

@eric65, I like that you are now interested in more "terrenal" headphones and give to us impressions about.

I have seen that these headphones are currently available in Europe. Do you plan to purchase them?

Good evening @Terriero. :)

I bought about 1 month ago the Sennheiser HD 560S, my best current headphones (or at least the most faithful, by far, for the restitution of male and female voices, between 60 and 4000 Hz, taking into account the sung formants which are centered on the 2800-3200 Hz frequency band, depending on the voice, male or female) ; the most versatile headphones, just as good (and efficient) for listening to electro music (Stromae) as to Purcel's King Arthur (baroque music), not to mention Nightwish's Metal Symphonic (note: I rediscover Floor Jansen's soprano voice), with this HD 560S headset (bought in France 170 Euros, taxes included).

Just this morning, I ordered the Sennheiser HD 400 Pro (from Thomann DE/FR) (249 Euros, tax and transport included) (deliverde in few days ; wednseday ?); the discussion is animated on the French forum (*) to know if it is an acoustically improved version, or not, of the HD 560S; at the last exchanges in this thread, it could be, in the end, that it is indeed a slightly improved (optimized) version of the HD560S by an even better tonal balance under 1000 Hz (in the low medium in particular).

Have a nice evening (in Europe and the Canary Islands)

I will wait for your impressions :L3000: to see if these cans will be my personal Christmas gift :relieved: (I don't have enough money for the Sony Z1Rs I want to purchase).

Do you still use your Kennertons?, I suppose so...

You too, have a nice evening in France (18:45 there  ).

Not really. My Kennerton Thekk is currently in ... standby.

My main headset is currently the Senn HD-560S, while I wait for the Senn HD-400 Pro in a few days.

Indeed, a good idea for christmas, this Senn HD-400 Pro (or even the HD-560S, more affordable). :)

By the way, and sorry for the offtopic... I was talking (well, writing  ) about France and at the same time listening to a neoclassical band that I love from there. Dark Sanctuary, the mastering is very poor but I'm enjoying right now with my DT 1990 Pros (with Senn HD 800 sound like garbage, for example):

I don't like the sound of the Senn HD-800 Stock: not enough bass; peak too high in the treble at 6 KHz, it tires me; this is not the case with the HD-560S, which is quite tolerant even to bad recordings.

I think the Senn HD-560S will work well with the music you featured in your spoiler.

I haven't received the HD-400 Pro yet, but if the HD-560S has a little more level in lower midrange than the HD 400 Pro (maybe 1 dB more ?), it could be heard; it's up to you to see what you prefer as balanced music for the overall tone.
