First of all i' ld like to tell that I am new to all this high end audio gear and hd 238 is my most valuable possesion at the moment. Due to my curious nature i have removed the foam covering behind the driver and the outer black fat foam too.(i read about these mods here at the forum) I am very much enjoying the sound right now as i think it to be more towards the "real" side now. But because of removing both the foams,( outer and the one that settles behind the driver) it now sounds too harsh(it isnt somehow comfortable for long listening sessions) but i still maintain that the clarity and realism that it produces now is far better than the unmoded hd 238s.
 
So here is my first post asking for advise whether my modded hd 238s can damage my ears or is just the high raw quality that i am not used too? Please all hd 238(moded) owners i am really confused on this..help! I'ld really appreciate if u all would tell my about your own impressions of the headphone after the mod.
