Just got my Amperiors on Monday night and have been breaking them in before passing any judgements. CD player on random repeat: 24 hours with Iggy and the Stooges, 24 with Ministry, coming up on 24 with Mike Oldfield. Initial (quick) listen blew me away with the SQ, but given the reservations that others have expressed about problems with brand new Amperiors, I'm continuing burn-in until Saturday before actually wearing them for an extended period.

Iggy and the Stooges? I have headaches every time I listen to raw power, poor Amperiors. You'll need 90 hours at least of burn-in though, but the results are night and day IMO.

Running "The Weirdness" so it's really just The Stooges reunion album, although Iggy's there too. Besides, "Raw Power" is a speakers album, you deserve to go deaf if you listen through headphones!

If you guys love the amperiors like me, do yourself a favour and buy the kef m500. They are a step above the Amperior in comfort, sound, and looks. The sound is balanced, bass hits you and the female voices are forward with surprising details in the mids. It reminds me of the Amperior but with more detail and silky forward highs. If I had the choice to grab either the amperiors or the m500, I'd pick the m500 90% of the time.

I have finally found the perfect sound. The kef m500, amperiors, and custom triple fi 3 are the end all of the personal audio game

The m500 is definitely above the amperiors, P7, momentums, se530. They are the best headphones I've heard to date.

If you could audition them you'd be blown away. I got mine off the classifieds for a price that would make your jaw drop. Look on the classified section

How does the m500 sound with speed metal? The amperior's are VERY hard to beat when it comes down to fast complex tunes. Only my grado sr325is does metal better

this is my first on ear headphone so it's kinda tricky to find a right fit but when you do find it it sounds so good.

The drivers are very quick on the m500s! I'd say they are above the amperiors on the attack, bass is really fantastic on these things with a similar mid bass that we are aware of with the amperiors that extend to the lower end very well (surprising for an on ear headphone), the treble is my favourite thing about the m500s, it feels like the singer is in front of me! it's very detailed and smooth compared to the amperiors.
 
The only downfall is that the m500 don't have the clamp force the amperiors have which can be a good thing to others, I have a large head so they sit nice on me but if you have a small head you may find it a challenge to wear. The build quality is top notch, soft leather and beautiful aluminum band.

Overall, I find that the m500s to sound more lively compared to the amperiors but keep in mind this is my opinion, others may not feel the same. I've done a lot of research and was hesitant about purchasing the m500 but after owning and loving the amperior for almost a year, I found that the m500 is simply amazing. I hear that with amplification they sound even better which is on my next thing to do! 
 
*side note if you listen to classical music, the m500 are not for you but I don't listen to it so its the perfect headphone for me.

I listened to classic, opera, vocal but with HD600. And my Amperior mostly for metal, rock, and R&B hip hop. I just found someone want to sell of his Kef M500, and I ask him if he willing to trade with my Amperior.

The clamp force, is it really loose when compared to Amperior? Because Amperior clamp hurt my ear but not my brain yet. And now feels more comfortable. Maybe the ear pad start to soften? Or I'm getting used to it.

2) can be uncomfortable wearing after over an hour (it's not fatigue but my outer ear feel pressure and a little warm from the leather)
3)noise isolation is below the amperiors

The m500 goods:
1)the sound is addictive! Love the treble, mids, and bass response
2) build quality is fantastic
3)look great in person
4)portability is great for on the go
5)beautiful quality hard case
6) when amplified they shine even more

Amperior goods:
-Lively sound great for almost all genres
-comfortable with stretched headband
-Very good isolation
-very portable
-discountinued (makes them desirable)

Amperior bads:
-in my opinion I think they look ugly
-no carrying case
-can be fatiguing listening at moderate volume
-all plastic headband

I would say that the amperiors are more comfortable than the m500 after the headband is stretched out. I would definetly give the sound performance to the m500. Before investing, I'd recommend an audition before spending $300. If you have a small head, you may not like the m500.

By the way, I'm keeping the amperiorsif I'm getting rid of the amperiors because of the rarity and because I like them for what they are plus I got them for under 200 dollars.

Hey mate, thank you for the detail comparison. Will take a look at Kef M500 if I got the money and chances. That warm can be very feeling uncomfortable. What I hate about Amperior is the cable, and the head band. Not because it's plastic but unlike other metal head band, I can't make them loose. But Amperior sound really satisfy me, secure on head, and I love aluminum product.
