I've had an Amperior for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it!

Prior to the Amperior my main portable headphone was the Sennheiser HD 25-1, which I kept for ten years and really enjoyed, especially with the velour pads.

I sold my HD 25-1 about a week after getting the Amperior and have never looked back.
The Amperior is a clear step up sonically and is a more luxurious headphone than the HD 25 in terms of aesthetics, physical comfort, and sound. The Amperior's remote control/mic works very well and is proving to be very useful, too; it's a welcome bonus for people who like to use headphones with their phone.

Overall, I find the Amperior very easy to enjoy and highly recommend it!

Kudos to Sennheiser for the Amperior, an excellent addition to their great headphone range.

I like the Amperior, but the mids are very fatiguing after long listening sessions.  I still prefer the beyer DT1350 over the HD-25 and Amperior.  The Amperior is the Grado of Sennheiser for me.  It has a nice mid range which works for rock and metal extremely well and covers more types of music than the Grado products I have owned.

Interesting, not sure I ever heard of fatiguing mids.  Are vocals too forward?  How is the clarity and detail of vocals?  Can you describe the bass/sub-bass extension?  Sounds like the bass would be weak if you are calling them the Grado of Sennheiser.  Bass is always a concern for me with supra aural headphones, but I like the Amperior's design for portable use.

The mids of the Amperior and HD 25 sounded similar when I compared them. The Amperior had a slightly more lushly smooth and cohesive sound overall and its bass frequencies tended to gel with the mids, which may or may not be preferred over the HD 25.

Wow.. thats ~$385AU.. and yet Sennheiser/Apple decide to gouge Aussies $539AU
 
No wonder there is a Senate Estimates Committee investigation in Australia on pricing of Apple products

I bought my HD25's not long before CES where the amperior was announced... If I had known they were releasing these I most definitely waited and got these instead. Anyway I have no complaints with the HD25's, they sound awesome for their price, which I think is their most attractive feature.
 
Anyway this is the amperior appreciation thread, not HD25. Definitely subbing, be interested to see more impressions!

The good news is if you already have HD25s, you are not missing much sonically by not having the Amperior.  The blue cups look great, but not worth the price difference, so enjoy your HD25 with the knowledge that you saved $150.
