Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

Need a Yggy version recommendation (both ones currently for sale, or second-hand ones, like the A2/OG, work)

I primarily listen to orchestral soundtrack by John Williams.

My chain:
Source: Apple Music via an iPad (USB)
Amp: MJ3
HP: HE1000se and Arya v2

Which Yggy version will synergize well with my setup?

TIA!
I paired the MJ3 with a Yggy+ OG A2 and it’s the best audio I’ve had thus far. Using LCD-4 and 5.

Similar, OG/A2–> Burson 3XGT 2023 fully upgraded, into Susvaras. I have the Aryas V2 also. It’s all glorious, top to bottom of the FR. If you invest in the OG, I think thoigh you will soon want to invest in a TOTL headphone, because with your chain, then, you will be able to appreciate all that they have to offer. When I improved my chain, the Aryas improved but not as much as the Susvaras- I started to really hear staging and detail retrieval with that set once I inserted the Yggy OG into my chain.

I'm with y'all! OG1> Flux mentor> HeK Stealth is the best I've heard, at least in my humble abode.

Hi folks!

I have got OG A2. I have listened it with my system on the last 3 weeks.

My system:
Source: Marantz SA-10 (transport)
Connection: XLR Chord Tunned Aray
Integrated Amplifier: Gryphon Diablo 250
Speaker Cables: Chord Signature Reference
Speakers: Revel Performa 3 F208

My impressions:

Pros:
- great clarity (mainly between bass and guitar), because guitars sound with some treble for my ears
- Punchy and good low bass
- dynamic

Cons:
- poor details in cymbal extension
- poor reverb and harmonic richeness
- little bright

It’s a great DAC but I intend to sell it here in my country (Brazil) because I prefer SA-10 as a DAC.

Again… system dependent. None of your cons in my system with my ears. YMMV.

Received Yggy+ og yesterday. This is the second time I have OG.

I compared it side by side with Amber 3 and BDA-3. For AB test, my attention was always drawn by the later two since they are more transparent. Once I go for a long session, my feet can't stop tapping with Yggy. It's much more engaging than the other two.

and it will sound better in a few days, too.

My view is that the last A2 is neutral. I do not hear an emphasis anywhere. System dependent I would guess.
There's a slight mid-bass emphasis due to the uneven crosstalk. I found it only shows up on some tracks though, and it's quite subtle.
You could contact Schiit and ask if anyone who has upgraded to an LIM or MIB abandoned their A2/Og card and if they have a few available. It’s unlikely but can’t hurt to ask. If I upgrade to MIB at some point I might consider to sell my old A2 card but I’m not ready to upgrade anytime soon.
My plan is to upgrade my A2 to MIB, then sell both my A1 and A2 cards to cover the cost.

This is high praise for the MIB coming from you @Currawong, what guided your decision?

It's better to have him review the MiB 'cause I want validation haha. For me, MiB is the most non-fatiguing while being the most microdetail focused Schiit DAC yet (closest to NOS sound minus the treble roll-off without being on NOS mode).

Well I'm eyeing MiB but thats a bit easier to do from an A1. If I had an A2 (or if they were available) I'd likely go that route.

That said it'll probably be awhile bc the A1 is pretty damn sweet.
