LMAO I am sure you have more than that. I have 3. I think a 52, 53 and a 54. The 52 is in my Lyr 3 now.

I was trying to say two or three above my safety stock level (which like everyone else is 250), but the forum software cut me off.

So much great information in this thread, thought i'd throw my noob 2cents in:

Just got a NEC 6SN7GTB made in Japan ($40 from valves n more).
I'm just starting to tube roll on my Lyr+, but i'm really enjoying it.

I listened to it using the pre-out on my Lyr+/Vidar/LS-50 (near field)

Quick comparison to stock TUNG-SOL:
Much more air and detail in the highs, bass sounds more textured and powerful, For me the tung-sol was kind of boring. It didn't do anything "great/interesting" but it also didn't do anything bad.

Doh! Sorry, you already wrote 'stock', i gotta read slower or get a new prescription lol.

Yeah, although I'm pretty sure others have praised this tube to a certain degree (iirc), I didn't care much for it either. Sold it and put the funds towards a different tube!
For a new production tube, the Tung Sol isn't too bad. To paraphrase @kickserve16 , sins of omission rather than commission. The new production JJ is a different story altogether though. It is pretty much awful in every parameter we usually use to describe audio. IMO, of course.

LOL I was gonna say, I don't know about the stock Tung Sol but the stock JJ was pretty much non-remarkable to me. It sounded just like a normal solid state amp.

There are definitely better tubes out there lol.
