The CV4033s are excellent tubes and I still use them. That was pre-Brimar CV-455s however. If you don't have any Brimar CV-455s head on over to Langrex and get some immediately. They are a fraction of the CV-4033's price. You will not regret it. ;)

USB-A and USB-B are not as fast as USB-C. As of Fall '24 all cell phones are USB-C.
Overkill for DACs. A and B are plenty fast enough. Jason is on record as saying he went with USB-C because you guys kept clamoring for it.

Nice!

My 1960s CV4033s with adapters arrived a little while ago based on your praise in one of the other threads (thanks!) with the adapters and those fit just fine so I immediately placed an order for 6 more 😆 and another pair of the tubes for the Valhalla 2 so it gets some love, too. I also ordered some Fotons for the rear tubes (sorry @Paladin79) but those haven't arrived yet.
Those Fotons are probably fine for that purpose, I have absolutely no gear that uses them so I have no experience. I did do an extensive 6SN7 comparison and Fotons were included.🤪

As for the Giles Martin Beatles remixes, I love them.
Same here, I think they're much better than the originals. I also have the 2009 box set remasters, and in every case the Giles Martin ones are better (imo).

I definitely am a Beatles fan, and I don't understand the hate the Giles Martin remasters have gotten in some camps...

And 6 years from now when USB-A and USB-B are as often seen as mini and micro A and B is today, you'd be happy using a Gungnir 2 or Bggy with an A or a B? I tend to doubt it.

And yet my new phone with USB C still only transfers over USB 2.0, I only get the power delivery benefit. So it's really all a plug preference for these DACs.

he Arya is off to Hifiman for service (I rolled up on the cable with my chair and yanked the cable out at a weird angle so now one earcup jack will not hold the cable 3.5mm jack in. )
Yeah that's something you do ONCE (hopefully), accompanied by many utterances of the f word. Then never again! :beerchug:

Yup, totally agree. The new singular is going to be around for a long time and I'd rather not have to hunt for "old" cables in 5 or 10 years.

No going forward it's not supported vs supported. I had an expensive USB A->B cable. I sold it. I bought a C->C.

USB-C makes total sense...for phones and devices that are constantly being plugged and unplugged. When was the last time you unplugged your DAC (or printer, for that matter)? USB-A and -B connections are far more robust and positive.

What do you think? Should I get these feet for BF2 as well?

Let's tell the rest of the story. Abbey Road was the only Beatles album recorded for stereo. As stereo progressed through the 60's JPGR did record some songs for stereo but only a handful. That original stereo was a mix done by combinations of George Martin, Norman Smith and Geoff Emerick. If you find the box set of mono albums by The Beatles, do not hesitate to purchase. Those mono lp's had JPGR involved on all tracks. That's how they were supposed to sound. Giles remix of those atrocious stereo mixes is welcomed but once you hear the original mono...yeah, yeah, yeah.

It’s a done deal and there is nothing non robust about any of my USB-C male or female connections.

I know the recording history and grew up listening to The Fab Four from the start, in 1962!

I recently bought ‘The Beatles in Mono’ CD boxset.

I really like it and some of the early songs took me back to listening to the (Mono) singles on my parents’ Radiogram.

I still have a few original 7’’ singles!

Very nostalgic and there is definitely something special about the sound of the original mono recordings.

However, I also like Giles Martin’s remixes.
