USB-A and USB-B are not as fast as USB-C. As of Fall '24 all cell phones are USB-C.USB A-B are the best IMO and I don’t like the C connectors. Good old fashioned USB “printer” cables.

Nice! Finally found my Tubemonger 12A*7 to E88CC (6922, etc.) adapters. 1st up is the Brimar CV-455s ( Footscray)!
And the rear 6N6P are properly lifted using TM socket savers to retain the appropriate "stock-like" appearance.![]()
Overkill for DACs. A and B are plenty fast enough. Jason is on record as saying he went with USB-C because you guys kept clamoring for it.USB-A and USB-B are not as fast as USB-C. As of Fall '24 all cell phones are USB-C.
Those Fotons are probably fine for that purpose, I have absolutely no gear that uses them so I have no experience. I did do an extensive 6SN7 comparison and Fotons were included.Nice!
My 1960s CV4033s with adapters arrived a little while ago based on your praise in one of the other threads (thanks!) with the adapters and those fit just fine so I immediately placed an order for 6 moreand another pair of the tubes for the Valhalla 2 so it gets some love, too. I also ordered some Fotons for the rear tubes (sorry @Paladin79) but those haven't arrived yet.
Same here, I think they're much better than the originals. I also have the 2009 box set remasters, and in every case the Giles Martin ones are better (imo). As for the Giles Martin Beatles remixes, I love them.
And 6 years from now when USB-A and USB-B are as often seen as mini and micro A and B is today, you'd be happy using a Gungnir 2 or Bggy with an A or a B? I tend to doubt it.Overkill for DACs. And yet my new phone with USB C still only transfers over USB 2.0, I only get the power delivery benefit. So it's really all a plug preference for these DACs.USB-A and USB-B are not as fast as USB-C. As of Fall '24 all cell phones are USB-C.
Yeah that's something you do ONCE (hopefully), accompanied by many utterances of the f word. Then never again!he Arya is off to Hifiman for service (I rolled up on the cable with my chair and yanked the cable out at a weird angle so now one earcup jack will not hold the cable 3.5mm jack in.)
Yup, totally agree. The new singular is going to be around for a long time and I'd rather not have to hunt for "old" cables in 5 or 10 years. And 6 years from now when USB-A and USB-B are as often seen as mini and micro A and B is today, you'd be happy using a Gungnir 2 or Bggy with an A or a B? No going forward it's not supported vs supported. I had an expensive USB A->B cable. I sold it. I bought a C->C.And yet my new phone with USB C still only transfers over USB 2.0, I only get the power delivery benefit. So it's really all a plug preference for these DACs.
