I am at a loss to comprehend why you think cake and alcohol are somewhat exclusive? rum-soaked cake is pretty good and meets all a chicken's daily requirements.
I lived in Georgetown, Grand Cayman Island, BWI for several years. I walked by the Tortuga Rum Cake bakery every day. They kept freshly baked slices of rum cake in covered cake platters on pedestals beside the sidewalk. Ooh, what's for a snack today. Yes, I am hooked for life.

One of my very favs, tonight. Brad Mehldau, Larry Grenadier, and Jeff Ballard come together as a wonderful trio. It's a LIVE recording and it puts you in the venue. Very well recorded and puts you right there, even rolling your eyes when the wait staff drops a tray, etc. The soft sounds and texture of the wire brush on the snare... it's just magical!!

Beware, there are even covers of Blackhole Sun and Wonderwall... Wait!! What!!?? Yep! And they are really good, IMHO. Turn down the lights and get your favorite beverage. I think you'll really like this one.

Tonight's Jazz recommendation...

Wow ... 2.5-hrs long, should be great - thanks. Also thanks to @earnmyturns for a very interesting album, recorded in Cuba. I love the rhythm down there.

Announcing incoming additions to the house ... which one to sample first?

What I really remember was arguing with folks that were CONVINCED they had the best and most realistic sound of any speaker. I would always say, close your eyes, and point to the first violin, or the flute soloist… and watch their arms flail about… finally falling back on “well,I like the way they sound”…

<shudder>
Lol! That's because Bose told us they were the best in their full-page ads in Stereo Review each month back in my college years.

Bose has always been a company that excels at marketing, and also sells speakers. IMO, of course. 🤣

Ha!
This gold knob has special qualities.
Things just sound better with a gold knob...
(notice it matches the tube adapter as well...this is really significant to getting maximum power transfer!)
LOL!

I was sent this by the Nitsch fellow. Christian...nice person. Friends with Jason and the Schiit crew.
I got one of the early Pietys and assisted in some online tests.

Tom, you might want to take a listen with a Piety.
I know your a tubey type of person..but Piety has tube like qualities.
You might be pleasantly surprised.

In my first college dorm room at Purdue - 1976 - we had a pair of Bose 301 bookshelf speakers. We thought they sounded great.
That was a long time ago. :)

I try to pay attention if someone is looking for a particular item or in need. I am waiting for some lumber to arrive for a Tyr project so I am figuring out the best way to build speaker terminal insulators for @Bowmoreman.
