Here's one to get your weekend started. Jazz with a bit of Funk/Electronic -- this one's a bit hard to categorize in any way, but it is COOL! It was an immediate fav after my first listen. I hope you folks enjoy it.

Tonight's Jazz recommendation...

As should I, late. Down in Florida now, just out of the pool. Heat we won't get in Southeastern CT until July. Bringing my wife's mom back for the summer. Interesting that you're a Murakami fan. I wish you lived in Connecticut, I think you'd be a great addition to our biweekly Beer Club for Men 😀😀
Is that like my book club can drink your book club under the table? I am a fan of craft beer and literature.

Dude, you got the coffee bug worse’n me! If I even thought of splurging to the Hot top level, wifey would kill me for the insurance. I had to wheedle the 2 year (or so) ROI story to get the Genecafe back over 10 years now. I haven’t babied it (hell the 4 years I lived in texas in literally sat on my back porch with only a rain roof 24x365… I just dump the chaff every 2 batches or so…
Coffee bug. Oh yeah. I've been to origin in Panama numerous times up in the Volcan Baru region. Once visited Boquete and toured Hacienda Esmerelda, the home of Geisha coffee. Was lucky enough to be invited to lunch with Rachel and Daniel Peterson (who literally discovered the Geisha growth on their farm) and their father. It was like having lunch with the Pope of Coffee. So yes, big bug.

And tonight's non-Jazz recommendation seems so fitting for this thread. Everyone loves ZZ Top and this is a deep dive into their music -- lesser known to the very well known. And it's got BBQ in the name. :D

Hey, there's far worse ways to spend 5 hours.

Had a 13 foot Gator in my backyard yesterday. Price of living in paradise I guess....
We had this little guy on Saturday. After being tracked down by my wife an I, he ambled back to the local retention pond.

I just have to post this short film from the excellent BMW series called 'The Hire' starring Clive Owen. Watch until the end for a very special cameo of a thread favorite character.

Love these.

My favorite is Star

TIL “synth-pop meets jazz band” is an actual genre. Ragnarok 2 is crushing it with this album through the Atriums. :L3000:

So check out sweetmarias website. If you buy in 5# bags, you get excellent coffee at around $6-9 a pound. Green beans keep literally forever (practically). So I just roast 1/2 pound of caf, and 1/2 pound of decaf approx every 10 days; keeping the fresh roast in air tight lid containers. Given that the closes replacement already roasted is more like $13-15 a pound, you can do the maths.

Cheaper. More choices. Perfect roast to taste. Fresher. What’s not to like?

I now only ever buy roasted if I have a long run of weather where I can’t use my roaster out on the back screened porch. Roasting makes epic amounts of smoke. You can use it under a kitchen vent hood, but only if it’s a proper one venting directly outside, those over-stove combo microwave/stove fans will NOT cut it.
Very helpful. This sounds like the perfect activity in the lanai. We don’t have a real vent fan, just a weak fan under the microwave.

Time to break the coffee gear news to the wife.

Thanks!

Nothin' but love for Chrissie Hynde and/or the Pretenders. You might enjoy -

Oh man. Never see much mention of her. She's been one of my favorite female singers for a very long time. Very few can breathe such life and expression into a song like she does.
