I got it but I moved on. I am listening to a 2007 remaster of the Pretenders' My City was Gone. I love it!
Nothin' but love for Chrissie Hynde and/or the Pretenders. You might enjoy -

*I* think you have a microphonic tube. 🤣

Seriously, once a tube goes microphonic it will stay that way. But when it comes to HP listening, microphonic tubes are really not much of a problem unless the amp/preamp is on a desktop where you're pinging away on a keyboard. Microphonic tubes are more of an issue in a loudspeaker system where the structural and airborne vibrations generated by the speakers can cause the microphony to be 'heard.' And too, there are different levels of microphonic -- in some tubes the level is very faint and barely audible going all the way to tubes that are so severely microphonic that just speaking near it will cause it to ring audibly. In an HP setup, there are no airborne vibrations to speak of that would set the tube off, and if the amp is on a solid surface that isn't subject to physically induced vibrations, then the microphonics are really not an issue. There is no danger (that I'm aware of) in using a microphonic tube -- the only issue is the ringing or noise that can occur as a result. So if that 6BZ7A sounds awesome other than the microphonics, use it and enjoy it!
I could hear the dishwasher through one of my 6SN7’s once because the vibrations carried from the kitchen counter through the floor and walls to the living room and up the shelf that the amp (a Lyr3) was stood on.. it might have been harmless but sure was annoying.. :unamused::laughing:

Wow! You could easily tell when the dishwasher was ready to be unloaded.

So, i recently picked up a cheap ($29) WiFi 2mb microscope/camera thing… and, for yucks, took a picture of my 34 year old (but only used for 800 hours before retiring) beloved AQ7000 MC cartridge stylus…

I’m thinking I may just pick up a second SME 309 (NOT 3009!!!) headshell and give her a retry… (anyone know a good place to FIND one, I’m having no luck)

Here’s a couple of shots i managed. Thoughts? Worth a try? (At one end) or “don’t do it, dude” at the other?

I like the idea of an ultimate Syn that seamlessly adds-on to Kara! (Or the upcoming uber pre, whose name escapes me as coffee not yet kicked in)…

But, on topic of Pre’s, I would love (in priority order):
1. Switchable Mono/Stereo - super useful on older mono records as well as things like azimuth setting
2. Balance control - yeah, I know it’s hard to do right, takes more space, adds cost, but… so useful

Any update on the upcoming uber-Pre? Not so much when (your “law” applies - LOL), but feature-wise?
What is the "upcoming uber-pre" you mention?

If I (now!) remember correctly, Starjna? Or something like that… ?

.... Encyclopaedia Schiitannica 📖 🤔👍
I was going to say nice use of the diphthong in encyclopaedia but then I would have to explain that word and I don't want to. Time for Finnegan and I to get busy in the shop, I have had plenty of headphone listening for this day.

Bed for me as well and I will read Kafka on the Shore till I doze off. No music or TV for me late at night, only literature.🤪
I loved Kafka on the Shore. I love all his stuff. Great reads.

Absolutely, I am still awaiting the translation of his latest work. (Haruki Murakami) 😁

Your cable and tube should be there tomorrow.

Maybe these folks can help you with the headshell.

https://www.smetonearms.com/

I considered buying a tonearm from them many years ago, but then remembered that I was broke...

I'm also a big Murakami fan! I've actually pretty much read everything he's written except 1Q84. Do you know when his latest work is coming out here?

November 26th 2024.
The City and its Uncertain Walls

I liked 1Q84, I am rereading all of his works prior to the new release.

I seem to recall in Japan his works are split up into two or three books, here not so, therefore they can be long.😉

Then of course there is his love for music, he incorporates some in his works.
