Your Straight American house Bourbon is more than very good. It's excellent. It also demands respect at 94 proof. The BIB is fantastic too, but at 100 proof it has a greater tendency to sneak up on you me... 🍸

We really appreciate your work!
Having tried both bourbons I was equally impressed with the house bourbon.🤪

Is it better to keep those caps powered up rather than on/off? (or charged/uncharged - I'm not sure I remember how caps work.)

Capacitors last long (very long) if fully formed continuously. I leave all electronics on 24/7. I do not have 'valves'; if I had those I would turn those circuits off. As @Jason Stoddard says: Do as you do, I do as I do.

Newsflash!

This torrent of post is interrupted by leaked video surveillance by our beloved Finnegan!

Finnegan remaked, "At first I didn't mind Tom cleaning the shop floor with me. I like Tom and felt compelled to let him into my space. But with so many flight boards in production I am getting weary of licking wood chips out of my fir. My sleep is constantly being interrupted and the root causes is a whole bunch of old men somewhere getting laughs at my expense! I just want my cardboard, my chessboard, my chair, my treats, my tubes, and my shop back for my sleep!"IMG_20240317_110424688~2.jpg
"It's enough to drive a cat to drink!" :)

"Maybe I'll let him sit in my chair, he seems to be taking a break!"

Great to read that .... I fully agree. BTW, it's called Rowan's Creek and comes from the Willet distillery. Not always easy to find around here, it's more available up in KY nearer to the source. :)

Willett is a cool distillery to tour, if anybody makes it to that area. They had cool cats, including a fella who was almost the exact shape of an American football scaled up 1.5x. Chunker!

so yesterday i picked up an old tape deck, cd changer, and reel to reel (i’ve never used one of these before) at a moving sale. i’m not looking to connect speakers, I just want to clean these up, repair as needed, and set up a listening station for my headphones. i have an og asgard, a Lyr 2, and a magni piety, and then I have a MB2 as my dac. do you all recommend i get a separate/specific schiit amp for this listening application or do you think one of the amps i have will work well? the reel to reel is a Teac X-7R, the tape deck is a Harman/Kardon hk 400 xm, and the cd changer is a Pioneer PD-M453View attachment 1710697210453.jpeg

And Cookie is staring forlornly at the empty table wondering why Folkvangr is still not in its place.

Forlorn? Pffft! That cat has a LAP! Even better than cardboard! Ask any cat…

Since tubes are more linear within their working range and far more forgiving outside it than solid sand that only measures so stunning just before they clip like a grisly bear getting a buzz cut, tubes preserve the micro-fish of micro-detail that often seems bleached-out, greyed-out by high feedback chip devices.
I love the fact that you used "micro-fish" instead of "plankton". Well played, sir!

What's your preamp? You won't need a DAC for those vintage analog sources.

A few weeks ago I was silently laughing at @dstrimbu for getting so far behind.
Tonight after I go to an early dinner I find that I'm now 7 pages behind. Hard to keep up!
I'm right there with you, brother.

It happens so fast!

To each his own, of course. I simply prefer my butler to be wearing his her finely polished Christian Louboutins when she serves mine. 🤣
FTFY!

The fact that his drug dealer punched a bunch of his teeth out has something to do with his singing style, too...
That didn't happen until 1966. That altercation left him unable to play trumpet for many years.

His life was very much a sad story. He made beautiful music, but he wasn't equipped to live in this world.
