Happy New Year to my fellow Schiitizens!!!
(Didn’t want to post early lest it trigger an event of apocalyptic proportions e.g. massive earthquake / tsunami, zombie attack, pestilence, AI takeover)

Good call.

Happy New Year.

I hear reality is overrated, and no, I don't drink or take funny stuff, except for what enters my mind while reading this forum...
Oh, no, no, no, no, no... Please don't tell me it true!
… the basement denizen viewpoint 😉

I think it’s going to depend a lot upon your system and your tastes.
Yes. "YMMV" weighs heavy on this topic from my personal experience with OG Freya and other pre/line amplifiers.

But I can genuinely hear some goodness by putting the Mjolnir into the signal chain.
I've only tried it once, fairly late one recent evening, and not having a simple way to control volume from ten feet away made analytical listening difficult. My usual line preamp is quite transparent. I really enjoyed the sense of weight and color that MJ3's pre-outs delivered, but there was no time to really listen and compare, so I went back to being lazy.

Need to try it again; in my setup it's as easy as removing the Tyr's input XLR cables from the line preamp and plugging them into MJ3's pre outs... when I get some time (which has been at a massive premium lately), I will try it again.

As far as "slam" is concerned, I have plenty - thanks to the stereo RELs... if anything, I'm artificially limiting bass to keep the neighbors happy. <g>

Thx for your help bud, really appreciate it.

I’m looking into it 👍🏻
No worries..... In fact I've just bought myself a s/h ROOMs Audio Line stand from eBay, at quite a bit less than the average price they sell for....
Now to find that glass cloche......

I wonder if Jason knows what tubes he will be using in the Valhalla 3 and could tease us with that info? Curious if the Valhalla 3 will change to totally different tubes from 1 and 2.
Most likely 6n6p novals for output pair. For front-end VAS pair either 6n1p or 6n3p novals (use adapters if your tube stash of dual noval triodes has different pinout than VH3 will use)

@Currawong Is everything OK at your side?
Yes. I'm far from the quake. Most of the damage was restricted to the peninsula where most of Ishikawa is located, which is quite sparsely populated, as you can see from the map. A bunch of seaside towns saw some damage. Having learned the hard way from 3/11, they immediately told people to get to high ground in those areas.
