Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

This info-graphic was made using iOS' Freeform, yes? I appreciate you labeling (almost) every arrow. Nice! Re: Source: CD Player + XLR input 2 + SPID/F. Once I set up my nook again, I'm going to try my own work-around kludge... instead of an URD. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy the significantly quieter background noise! Electromagnetic and aural waves. Less negative waves!
@ScubaMan2017 Ye mean CD Player + XLR Input 2 + S/P-DIF. We know about the single-ended (2.5/3.5/6.8 mm T(R)S and/or RCA) and balanced 3.5/6.8 mm TR(R)S and Cannon XLR3) analog interfaces. The SONY / Philips Digital Interface was developed specifically for 50 Ω coaxial cable terminated with RCA plugs and jacks. AES/EBU, otOH, is a professional digital interface using biaxial cables (don't know the characteristic impedance) and Cannon XLR3 plugs and sockets.

Yggy MIB burn in nearly 145 hours complete, and I think I need to clarify my experience a bit. About headroom, and intersample overs, I don’t think that was a part of my experience. Because -3db was good, and -5db was better , Hans Beekhuyzen suggests that in this situation you are dealing with voltage mismatch and synergy issue. Like a good doobie I adjusted sensitivity of amplifier and bang, no more running from the hifi. While this was a major win, Yggy MIB somehow neglected to play bass from like hour 3 to hour 140. I came back from the restroom and was like, WHAT? Wooomp, there it was. Not great, but present. FINALLY. Duncan Taylor used to be a testing tech at the music room, he described wild break in scenarios where bass would disappear, then magically reappear. If I remember correctly he attributed this scenario to power supply capacitors swelling and forming. His podcast with PS Audio’s then Darren Myers was so fun. Yggy MIB is a fricken time machine, but, please, the bass, more please! Here’s to 200 hours and completely formed bass. Or wait, maybe what I’m waiting for wasn’t on the recordings to begin with. This hobby is sick.
Sorry but I do not buy that. Schiit would not be in business if their products would change by drastic component changes. No way.

I can confirm that it was stated by Jason, but I cannot recall if it was here or via a YouTube Schiitr Meet Q&A session. That was pretty much the entire statement with no specific products mentioned, IIRC. **

** I am 100% sure it is not likely a case of mass hysteria.
Thanks!. Now that you mention youtube, I'm thinking it was there.

The best thing about this type of tweak is that it is free, and non-destructive if you save the originals!

I have used Foobar2K for most maintenance tasks with my music files for years, and also use it with specific settings for the scanning and level adjustment here. Since the True Peak scan relies on oversampling, there are many options for configuring the interpolation, and each of them gives different results. I validated the settings against the results from another tool bs1770gain (formally rp128gain), which provides the best match after scanning the True Peak of a reference file.
I ended up configuring F2K to use a multi-resolution upsampler at 4x with Sinc function.

The process is a bit lengthy, because you have to scan the files (Replay Gain with the TP settings), run them through a DSP convert process, and then scan them again with the new values. There is a lot of incentive to get it right the first time!
I currently use HQPlayer to map PCM to DSD256 for my Holo DACs. HQPlayer's recommended settings for this include a -3dBFS adjustment. This is not a problem as HQPlayer runs its filters at high precision. Roon offers fewer options but it also operates at high-enough precision to allow such an adjustment without quality loss.

Something's wrong with your synergy if you still need more bass IMO. I find the MIB to be just as full and impactful as BF2 OG in the bass after 150 hours of run-in time. Just an update though, I forgo Mike Moffat's burrito filter in favor of the non-oversampling mode since it gives better presentation to my system: Slightly less liquidly smooth in favor of more "analog" sounding, more focus on the individual instruments rather than forming a cohesive presentation as a whole and even better vocal timbre than the burrito filter at least for my system. This is probably why Mike doesn't like the MIB (the Burrito filter effect isn't as pronounced as it does with the OG and BF2 OG being that it's only 4x oversampling rather than 8x oversampling)

I named it in the post, but it’s actually a turntable stand from a company called
Line Phono—specifically the extra height version. There are a few different finishes, the one I bought iirc is called carbon.
I got one of these, too! Sadly, I put casters on it, replacing the feet, and then I set the brakes on the casters.

My wife, exercising her inner She-Hulk, pushed it, not knowing the brakes were on, harder and harder. It still stands but no longer takes feet....

Audirvana has the same adjustment and it works for me.

I think someone has had a bad experience or two on WestJet. Funny thing about the 737 is that the panel in the pic is virtually the same as when the airplane entered production in 1967. The instrument panel, however, looks pretty fancy in the newer models. This one is from the Max.

Out of context, this switch has always made me laugh -

That switch is right outta The Great Race (one of my favourite movies to this day. In our ICBM silos we had a switch labeled “Well Off”. I guess we were, at that…

I hear ya. A significant amount of my flight time is in Saab 340's. I like the analog/steam gauges for engines/airspeed/altitude but having a nice CRT for the nav displays was always welcome.

Love the little 'cheat sheets' ... I rely on them for coding, my memory is THAT bad !!
