Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I got rid of my RTR deck many years ago, but I kept this tape as a souvenir.

I like the cover, I must be an art lover! :sunglasses:
The vinyl version is better, just saying šŸ˜‰

That is a very cool render!

In other news, two things:

1. There will be another run of Mjolnir 3 so we can have 230V compatibility. The current run probably has 2-3 weeks left before it's out. The next run is 8-10 weeks out. We're still investigating silver; not sure on that one yet. Call it a maybe.

2. Things are changing on the Yggdrasil side. OG is not super long for this world, because the AD5791 DACs have gone so high in price it's not worth making them anymore (even if we could get them, which so far is iffy). As in, OG might have to go well above $3K in order to continue with AD5791s. So, if you want an OG, don't wait too long. In addition, we'll be doing a short run of "MIB," or "More is Better," using the DAC10011B. This is not the DAC10011A. This is a whole new thing that improves performance at 20kHz by 45 dB. Yes, that's forty-five, not a misprint. It's a different league. A few protos have been circulating and people seem to like them. Look for that late this month or early next month.

And finally, if you're at the NC meet, I'll see you there!

So the "More is Less" is off the website. For now, only 2 variants

Possibly to be replaced by the Yggy SLSM (Somewhat Less is Somewhat More) new TI variant.

Or will it be called ā€œMore is Less is Moreā€? Or ā€œMore is Better Betterā€?

On a different place to talk Schiit, someone mentioned that they replaced the output capacitors on a Freya+ which brought me to these questions. 1. Is this advisable and 2. why is it things seem to always sound better after replacing items?

I've yet to see anyone talk about how replacing parts, burning in, etc that something sounded worse. I wonder why that is? (rhetorical, I already know)

1. Not if you like your warranty.
2. "My Baby Is Best" delusion.

#2 is very hard for audio designers (like me). It's really easy to fall into "my latest creation with is best!" fallacy. Sometimes it's just another kid. That's why you have other people for sanity check.

"My Baby Is Best" delusion.
Or as my mother-in-law (RIP) would say -- "Every crow thinks theirs is the blackest." She was from deep country Oklahoma. :D

A little tube holder I cobbled together with assorted Melz 1578 tubes. I use them in a Freya + as well as other amps.

1. No comment. 2. Expectation bias due to effort.

Had an A77 and B77 MK 2 back in the 1990's. The A77 was always breaking down, but the B77 MK2 was very reliable.
Both sounded great. Also had a Nakamichi Dragon. Great sounding but very tempermental. Ended up with a ZX7 which
offers similar sound with greater reliability.
Here's my A77/B77 replacement. It's very useful for archiving old tapes, sounds great, never breaks down and is in Schiit silver.
