Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Hey all,

I'm heading out today for TheShow in Costa Mesa, and I'll be there on Saturday and Sunday morning, if anyone's interested in coming by.

https://www.theshownow.com/

The room opens today at noon. We have a simple system I always wanted to do: Syn, JBL 305s (x 5), and a Rhythmik 12L sub. For $1773 retail, it kills most surround systems. We also brought Urd and a Bifrost 2 for fun. And a screen. So we can do music (streaming or CD), or movies...your choice.

I hope to see you there!

All the best,
Jason

I chose the wrong weekend to be out of town! But great to know the setup you have running. What amps are you choosing for said display?

Another similar documentary is Hired Gun.

From the description on IMDB ...
"A documentary film about session and touring musicians that are hired by well established and famous bands and artists like Metallica, KISS, and Billy Joel. These hired guns may not be household names, but are still masters of their craft."

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4026034/

Worth watching.
Thanks, that was excellent!

To summon Yoda from the previous page.

Active are the JBLs, not required are amps.

Is anyone using a cheap dap as a transport with the Modi? Anything work well? My work laptop is short on storage, but I've got a Schiit stack at work.
Not apples-to-apples, but I started using the analog out of my DAPs with my Mjolnir I. Then I dipped my toe in the external DAC waters with a Bifrost I multi-bit and was blown away by the difference it made, using USB out from one of my DAPs. Absolutely preferred the sound using my DAP's digital output. In addition to the different DACs, I wonder if my Bifrost's analog output did a better job driving my Mjolnir than the analog output stage of my DAP.

Another thing you can try at work: bring some music with you on an SD card or USB drive, direct you playback software to the external storage.

Who knew power switches on the back would be such a politically divisive issue? 🤷‍♂️
It's not if you already come from decent quality.
If you come from cheap electronics, it might be strange, but one must see it as a rite of passage.
A step into the world of grown-ups.
Serious audio always had its main power switch on the backside where the mains come in.
Serious manufacturers don't stretch that one cable to the front for a white noise inducing switch/antenna combination.
Complaining about it makes you an advocate for "diapers for everyone" because they're so easy for the gross public.

OK, back to fight another war for me.

Wow!

listening to it right now on Qobuz! (too many exclamation points, due to sound/coffee)

Just appeared along with Jenny Lewis' new Record on New Music under the Discovery tab.
