My Dad grew asparagus. A second garden area, that thankfully, cows weren't allowed to access!

I Love Asparagus - it doesn't love me !! It makes me stink through every pore and if I go for a pee OMG - but I still love Asparagus !!

Finnegan outgrew his last cat tote so I had to think of something larger.

The weird one is the mutation that causes cilantro to taste like dish soap, I think it's like 5% of people. I can not have it in any dish without it being ruined.

I feel bad for you. To me, cilantro is a necessity to complete many dishes.

Per Britannica:

"Interestingly, places where cilantro is especially popular, such as Central America and India, have fewer people with these genes, which might explain how the herb was able to become such a mainstay in those regions. East Asians have the highest incidence of this variation, with some studies showing that nearly 20% of the population experiences soapy-tasting cilantro."

I wouldn't have guessed the East Asian prevalence.

I worked on the instrumentation for many aircraft, to include F15's, B1 bomber, B 747, and tons of other aircradt, Even worked on fuel instrumentation on the Apollo stuff way back when.

We made the first digital "tape" fuel gauges for the B1 and the Cessna Citation...A wonder back then..

We made a Center of Gravity Fuel Subsystem, that kept track of the B1's CG and pumped fuel from tank to tank to keep it within its CG envelope.
Another marvel.

I worked on the B-2 program for 9 years in Seattle on the Boeing designed Aft Center Section and Outboard Wings. Structural/Stress Analyst on systems including the weapon bay door drive system, fuel system, hydraulics, electronic LRU installations, flight control & landing gear actuation. It was fun to see it fly years later and very hard to see it when it is coming in low straight towards you!

I will posit there is a similar genetic defect that prevents people from enjoying NC BBQ (at least Western NC or 'Lexington Style' BBQ. I understand these mutations are located close to the genes that control other important cognitive traits.
