Unfortunately, dBpoweramp does not identify errors in existing rips, it just uses the AccurateRip database during the rips. PerfectTUNES, another utility produced by the same company, will identify dubious rips, manage missing or low-resolution cover art, manage tags, and remove duplicate tracks.

If only Illustrate could figure out how to release a native Linux version of PerfectTUNES...

Now if we could just get flirc to make a Pi2AES case....

only $15.95 for custom case with thermal interface to go fanless-- zero ambient noise. :gs1000smile:

just feed usb from the latest Pi4B direct to Unison on Bifrost 2 / Yggy / Gungnir. faster processor should help compensate for the buffering performed by Pi2AES as a byproduct of format/ interface conversion.

There it is again, the clear indicator knob.

Variation on a theme. Thank you for the inspiration!

No mark on the front of the knob, but I can figure it out and see it easily across the room in dim light.

Not familiar with that one. I use Acronis and have very few issues even when copying large drives.

Ah, I now see that we are talking about very different approaches to copying (or rather, cloning) data

TeraCopy does this on a per-file basis, while Acronis (and Clonzilla, which I use) does this on a block-level basis

Either way will work depending on the scenario

This is incorrect.

WAV is a file format. It is not just the digital music stream (PCM data). WAV files are not embedded within ALAC, AIFF, FLAC, etc.

Yes I agree, to a point.
You're correct in that the wav file itself isn't what is embedded in the other file formats, but the pcm data itself that makes up the digital music stream in the WAV file, is embedded.
I didn't want to further complicate the post with getting into the formats themselves, thus my 'over simplification' and I apologize for the confusion.

IOW the contents (data) of the WAV files is used as the source for the actual digital music streams, which from there can be compressed, modified and/or wrapped with meta data.

So thanks for pointing out this discrepancy. :thumbsup:

Why (how?) could anyone hear differences? Bits is bits and as long as no errors are in evidence It must, by definition, be the same.
Late to the party/discussion, but how on earth is that true? I read on many reveiw sites that $600+ Ethernet/USB cables polish and shine those bits so much that they are not the same - they are more 3D, more alive with timing and slam, and other hyperbole.

Well, maybe the firmware in the streamers he was hawking was so buggy that is messed up ALAC :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
@earnmyturns
My ALAC files certainly did sound like **** on the streamers he was hawking, so you could be right!
They sound great on my 12 year old streamer :beyersmile:

@33na3rd
I never use the volume knob on my Freya S and doubt that I'd be able to see it across the room anyway, even with a marker, especially after a few drams of single malt :beerchug:
