Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Sorry manuals were sent out with proper facing amps, the deviant version was lucky to get a cardboard box and packing materials.

Oh and I just applied a second coat of finish to this and I am free much of the weekend in case any of you other than Cowen has a request.🤪IMG_7534.jpeg

That looks so good!

Also.... in like the last 3-5 months there must be 20+ pages worth of posts where people only post to comment on how far behind they are in the thread...
I'll take the blame for at least a page-full of those. #meaculpa

Would those posts be 5th order harmonics?
Odd-order harmonics are generally irritating, so... maybe. <g>

I have been known to, I spent about 17 years running a company and got them into custom work and trained the builders so I know a little about it. I do less now but if you need something PM me and I will see what I can throw in the box when I ship the flight board. I also built mini radial speakers, designed and built some tube amplifiers when I wanted to. I made custom knives but I am a bit concerned about Finnegan picking up metal filings so I do less of that. IMG_6792.jpegIMG_6409.jpeg

I always wanted a pair of your radial speakers. So beautiful...

I have a couple sets of cabinets to use up, and parts for them, I will complete that project one of these days.

What is the thickness of the walnut? Looks to be 1/4 - 3/8"
This is 1/4 inch thin stock I had laying around, I used to use it for the bottoms of my amplifier cases. Being a good hard wood, it is fine for supporting the small Schiit components. Unfortunately I only have a couple of the small pieces and will eventually donate this rack to someone who has a few more. IMG_7569.jpeg

I met Dick Olsher many years ago at the cabinet shop where he was working out the final details for his Dahlia, DIY bookshelf speaker project.
He was a very nice man.
My Grandfather worked at Los Alamos too

My high school had a Mr. Dick (guidance counselor) and a Mr. Butt (choir director). The damn town was so conservative, we didn't really see the humor or the possibilities staring right at us. :)

Edit: Should have written my and Don's high school, as Mr. Strimbu was my classmate. @dstrimbu
And the funny part, Dick? Mr. Dick was my guidance counselor. I wasn't in choir but my girlfriend was, so I knew Mr. Bernie Butt fairly well. Great guy, if not a bit of a curmudgeon... R.I.P. Mr. Butt!

Speaking of cool as frigg names…

This reminds me of Maury Maverick, Chairman and General Manager of the Smaller War Plants Corporation.

Right?! Maury Maverick! Smaller War Plants Corporation! Yeah, you go ahead and tell me that that's not one of the coolest names that ever were!

Why do I know of the guy, you wonder? Because he once wrote a memo that should be required reading in any Business 101 or Communications 101 class on the planet:

I know, ironic that this is coming from me… 😬
There is so much Gobbledygook in business now. Drives me nuts.

Well, small world indeed. Seems that Mr. Dick helped you on your way, Don.
I remember Bernie as being a cool guy. He had two daughters who were in school with us, too - Paris and April.

Nope! 😜

In my imaginary scheme, there would be summing and differencing in the digital domain, then decoded in the analog domain after conversion. The Syn just takes a normal stereo signal and does everything on the analog domain.
With a similar outcome though, at least that the way I see it.
Maybe SYN+ (if it ever happened) would do it all in digital... or not.

This is a mock up of the front of the Schiit Rack I am making for my 5" Schiit. I decided on bamboo since I have all these small cutting boards that I laser images onto. Hight is 9 inches, widest is at the base 8 inches. (7" at the top.) shelves in the middle will hold 3-4 pieces of Schiit. The inner opening is 5 1/4" wide. Depth is currently set at 4 inches.

I am now thinking that the lower "Schiit" crossmember should be higher and the top shelf should be equal to the base or an inch wider. Tell me what you think, Praise or Criticism are all welcome.
