Jeez, are you comparing scotch to bourbon? Have you lost all sense of couth?? But then I suppose you cannot lose what you never possessed. 😅😅
I thought belvedere was a vodka?

I love my Aegir, and have been thinking of adding a 2nd one, but I've heard some people say that some of the magic is lost when that is done. What has your experience been?
I also love my Aegir, but sometimes wish it had a little more low end grunt, especially at lower volumes. I've read that mono Aegir supplies the grunt but loses a little sweetness in the top end. Would love to hear from someone who has experience with single vs mono.
Also, I saw a video clip of Jason saying the Vidar 2 sound sits somewhere between Vidar 1 and Aegir. So maybe Vidar 2 sounds similar to mono Aegir?? would also love to hear from someone with Vidar 2. The only Vidar 2 review I've found is from Steve Guttenberg, and I learned absolutely nothing.

I upgraded from a Vidar to an Aegir to drive my Zu Omen IIs. Such a lovely upgrade. Upgrading from a Modius to a Modi MM 2 was another good step up in musicality.
I auditioned (thanks to @ArmchairPhilosopher) Vidar and Aegir, and and chose Aegir to drive Martin Logan Motion 20is. Plenty of power at 1x Nexus on Freya S, a teriffic combination!

@Jason Stoddard for the 3 new game-changing products (ETA mid-late 2023Q1), if any (or all) have USB interfaces, can we assume USB-C connectors for both inputs and outputs?

(aside) just realized the marketing tag line for Lyr+ "I can live...with or without tube" is reminiscent of a U2 song...

I must have gotten the second to last one then.

Or are they? I’ve been watching that page for a while, and it seems they keep finding a few more. Either that’s done intentionally to make them appear more scarce than they are, or they really don’t have a good handle on their inventory.

I think schiit sells what they want, when they want on B stock.

I take their available B stock inventory to mean this is whats offered for sale right now.

I do not take it to mean this is all they have left of X.

I have a Vidar2 driving large Maggies. It is a great neutral amp. It sounds transparent. Great!

You may notice I haven't mentioned tubes. It's not that I don't like tube phonos, it's just that, if done right, they'll be more limited. As in, if you want to have a pure tube phono preamp with passive RIAA, you'll need a separate MC stage or SUT, and you'll need to stick to one type of tube for rolling unless we use lots and lots of tubes, etc.

Anyway, just thinking out loud. Looking forward to any input.

And, again: IF it happens. MUCH more expensive. Mani 2 is a fantastic phono pre. It took me a long time to be convinced we should look at anything else.

All the best,
Jason

I would be in for a modernized remake of Mike Moffat’s tube phono from way back. Herb Reichert wrote about it here
https://www.stereophile.com/content/gramophone-dreams-6

I think people who want a tube phono stage expect MM stage and maybe a convenience MC head amp stage. I intend to use a transformer for MC carts and wouldn’t need a head amp. I don’t think you need the bells and whistles. The best phono stage I’ve heard is the Jadis JP80 and I don’t think that it has any!

If you are afraid it won’t sell, make it a limited edition and take preorders. You have got one sale with me!

+1.

in some instances, perhaps the records showed inventory of product X, but the exact location within Schiit facilities wasn't well documented (e.g. 2nd run of Freya S happened because they "found" a batch of production-quality metalwork; ERP system was just added within the last year or two; after the introduction of latest Magni+ and Modi+ Jason posted that they located a run or two of older Magni and Modi units, etc.)

Silver obviously sounds far superior to black...
Oh no! I have a silver Freya S and have just ordered a black Yggy+. Are they going to cancel each other out??

Belvedere is @bcowen speak for Balvenie scotch. You need to speak gibberish as a second language to follow what he is saying sometimes. It is too late in the evening to explain what cardboard really means to him in his upside down Cowen world. :beerchug:

this looks great--much more aesthetically interesting than my hifiracks ltd wooden headphone stand
My first attempt with olivewood, I figured it was worth a shot. I have headphone racks that hold as many as four but there are only two I generally use so this fits my needs and it has a small footprint.

Lol! TY for the secret decoder ring! I strongly prefer Highland Park generally, but am working on a lovely Tomintoul 16 and a Bunnahabhain made for the duty free market at the moment. Oh, and for those that like it, the Frey Ranch Bourbon is excellent. All grain grown on premises, so farm to table, so to speak, too! Nevada Bourbon… who knew?
