Those do have the look of 7A4 single triodes with appropriate adapter.
That is correct. National Union 7A4s - one of the great 6J5(ish) twins in my 6J5 Top 5 - which at last count only has 28 contestants. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Most 7A4s are from Sylvania - have a few pairs of their JAN version. But the NU version has a different construction, and to my jaded ears, a sweeter presentation.

I started with 6J5’s then discovered 7A4’s when reading some old tube manuals, many years ago.

It would be nice to post on topic and move food and other topics elsewhere. :)
Obviously, you haven't been following this thread for that long! LOL

Trying to keep it on topic :L3000:, a pair of Soviet 6N23P Reflector Double Triode tubes I ordered off Ebay for the cathode follower output stage (left-side tubes) of my Freya N arrived yesterday. They were very inexpensive and were ones from the list that @Paladin79 recommended. I dropped them in, fired up the Freya, and let it, and the rest of the components, warm up for a couple of hours. The gorgeous tube sound that the 1960 Bugle Boys brought got a bit tubier! My reference track of choice for judging this is Neil Young and Crazy Horse's "Ramada Inn". The guitar's sound definitely had a richer tube sound and the instrument separation was beautiful. I then spent almost 2 hours listening to Jeff Beck, and it was wonderful. Also arriving yesterday was a pair of 1963 Bugle Boys, branded and made for HP. I'll try them out on the weekend on the right side tube sockets.

Me too! Except I cheated - had you read the old tube manuals and waited until you spilled the 7A4 beans on Head-Fi some years ago.

So... belated thank you!
It shows a lot of class to give credit where credit is due. You should give @bcowen lessons.🤪🤪🤪

I will posit there is a similar genetic defect that prevents people from enjoying NC BBQ (at least Western NC or 'Lexington Style' BBQ. I understand these mutations are located close to the genes that control other important cognitive traits.
Would love to hear more about the other affected important cognitive traits. Maybe the hand-eye reflexes favoring woodworking over cardboard working ability?
