A Lyr with optional LISST may be in my cards...

Well that was a boring waste of time. The OP flat out refusing to quote the source email just means there wasn't one. A clickbait fishing expedition without value.
.
Don't waste time with stupid rumors.

Maybe someone can chime in, as I'm not a tube guy (as in very little experience)...

Is this a tube, or is this a new LISST? It looks different from any tube I've seen...

Sorry if this was already discussed. It's Friday and I may just be seeing things.

If this is a new LISST... that's a sexy design...

Now I'm wondering if this is an old pic, and I'm just... so wrong....

That's a normal 6SN7 tube, not LISST.
Not sure what type of tube exactly, though. Doesn't look like Schiit's usual Tung-Sol, and it's definitely not a JJ.

That's what the octal LISST v1 looked like:

And this is what the noval LISST v1 looked like:

As I understand it, the LISST re-issue will only be available in octal form. And as Jason mentioned earlier, they will also be domed instead of flat, and won't have the metal base but will be cast in some form of resin instead. Likely similar to how the noval version was produced:

While I personally prefer the high-quality feel of the v1's metal base, the resin approach is probably much easier to produce.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, he mentioned dome shape, and immediately thought they were gonna make it look as tube-like as possible. Doh. I had an OG Lyr with a stock tube, and a first gen Vali (internal tubes) and current gen Vali which I bought an EH6922 Gold for. That's as far as tubes go with me. So not used to seeing anything that looks different at the base.

Yep...wasn't true when I was younger and a new audiophile. I used audiophile music to listen to great gear -- instead of gear to listen to great music.

At some point, that changed...would rather listen to a compressed version of a great song on a boombox than some hi-res track that doesn't move me on a high-end system!
Absolutely! I find that I can get much enjoyment from a great song played in the car or (as recently happened) listening to my Sony noise-canceling headphones while flying back from London. (First international trip in two years - yay!)

Ok, now I want a Freya + simply for the LISST option - in black ofc.

I also need to find a way to get my hands on a coaster amp. I have the coasters, but no parts. If you can part with one, I will gladly pay for parts, assembly, and shipping. I don't have the fine motor control anymore that I need to assemble one myself.

What service does everyone here use to sell gently love audio gear? I have two preamps that I want to get rid of, two parasound amps, and other assorted gear.

I love this thread. You guys are excellent enablers of the audio "habit"
I offered you a completed coaster amp a couple weeks ago, the offer still stands. You need not pay for anything. Maybe I was not clear in my offer lol.PM me your address and I will ship it early next week.

Short answer: 2nd gen LISST was going to be different, but ended up being the same. Sometimes my great ideas ain't so great.

Ah, but I should also specify: electrically the same. The case will be different, with a phenolic base and rounded top, rather than the older squarish version. However, both will perform the same.

And yeah, full speed ahead on new LISST...

Oh

And by the way, we did do the blind wine tasting...and the Texas wine won (William Chris Rio Frio Syrah 2019 vs Caraccioli Cellars 2019 Syrah), plus a "ringer" of a California red blend that costs about 1/10 the price of the other two wines. The ringer was definitely outclassed.
So there is little reason to send me the V2's to check out I take it?

I also liked the reference back to this test I helped set up that caused me to begin my own 6sn7 evaluation. :beerchug:
I made all cables and sealed all tubes. I also built the grey distribution box. Fun times.

OK, so, what I take from this is that LISST is the far superior option of the three.

How?

Well, the 6SN7 and LISST were considered roughly equal, but the 6SN7 was in a silver Freya and the LISST in a black one.
Everybody knows that silver anodized aluminum sounds a lot better than black powder coated aluminum, so LISST went into this with a massive handicap.

Ergo: LISST wins this shootout. 😎

In all seriousness, though, I am kinda sad that they picked JJs to represent the 6SN7 camp and not the Tung-Sols they also sometimes ship with Freya+. I'm sorry if this is stepping on anyone's toes, but to my ears, JJs are the worst-sounding 6SN7s that I know. Maaaaaaaybe only second to the Electro Harmonix gold pins. The EH is seriously unpleasant, edgy, and harsh, but at least it dares to be something. The JJs, however, are just bland and soulless on all levels.

That said, I wonder what the verdict would have been if they had used Tung-Sols instead. I wonder if LISST would have come out this strong as well. But based on what I read, I would have to doubt that a little.
I was about to mention it was the JJ's used in the Freya + myself, your assessment of them is very close to my own unfortunately. One day I should send you some serious tubes to try in the gain side of the Freya. :L3000: As I recall the JJ tubes could be delivered in the quantities Jason required, naturally that is important when you are selling a large quantity of tube gear.

What have you compared those fynn to (speaker wise)? I’m a pretty big fan of new brands formed by known folks with audio pedigree . I my self have the q acoustics concept 500 in my living. I considered getting the fynn bookshelf for my home office but couldnt try them anywhere in my country.
I've had all sorts of stuff over the years. Paired in some variation of this systems I've had B&W 685s2, and KEF LS50. I've got a pair of the big Audioengine's at my desk in addition to my various cans on my Lyr 3 setup. I think Fyne are amazing bang for the buck. They have the tweeter buried in woofer similar to a KEF uni-q driver for great off axis listening and a broad sweet spot. I may move up the line to the 703 or 704's next, better crossover, nicer tweeters, better wood (the walnut is gorgeous) and fit/finish. Big price jump though, the 500 series is the bang for buck sweet spot.
