Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Mitch Funk, from Winnipeg's Personality Crisis, may well have been the instigator of the style. Another "unknown" yet highly influential Canadian band.
.
Looks like a band I would have followed back in the day. I was deep in the San Francisco punk scene around 1980 (when I wasn't at sea.)

Interview with Nelson Pass, half an hour long. It started about how he ended up in amplifier design, Pass Labs, First Watt, the difference between these two, etc.

Let me know if it has been posted here before. In that case I will delete this post.

Babymetal is fun. They should have conquered the world by now. :)

Well, that's a good test to prove I don't have epilepsy...

Since you're the only one digging the growls, I'm willing to help you (and your doggo) with a better weekend :D

Sweet. I listen to metal in general, so I don't have an issue with growling vocals. Mostly older stuff from In Flames, Soilwork, etc.
Just starting out with the new stuff from TOOL, then onwards to your Opeth recommendations.

Edit: Think I'll fire up the sauna and have a few beers too, while I'm at it.

Women in metal can growl, too.

If you like women playing with metal, L7 is pretty good too. Their stuff is all over the map and some of it rather sophomoric, but they do some nice guitar work on occasion.

A local radio station has a prog show on Thursdays between 2:00 and 5:00 am. I've been listening to Prognosis on the archives (in glorious mono) and discovered Jolly.
Not bad,. A touch of vocal growl in one song, but the rest of the vocals are agreeable to my ear. I think what I like about them is they're not full-bore metal all the time.

I'm a huge L7 fan. Do you have their latest, "Scatter The Rats"?

I heard about Babymetal before but never got a chance to give them a listen. Forgot all about them, until these two posts. Checked Tidal and there they were. Been listening to to them for about an hour or so. Just bought both CDs on Amazon and pre-ordered the other! Right up my alley, since I like both metal and anime OSTs.
